Les De Merle is one of the most underrated and under appreciated drummers ever. His drumming with the Harry James Orchestra was amazing as was his solo work with his own big band! Full joy and swing. Great drummer!

Years ago at the local pro drum shop ( when they still existed)I recall one of the well respected and connected salesmen said "The Less DeMerle the better". I think Les had a bad rep of sorts in the drum community. Not sure exactly. Anyway, just sayin. He seems like a nice guy though.
