Greetings from South Africa. I'm 25 years old (I was born blind) and this music beats all this modern stuff any day! I've listened to both Benny's and Glenn's version of Sunrise Serinade and I have to say I love them both.

I grew up on these magic swing bands of Benny Goodman Glen Miller and Tommy Dorsey. You just cannot beat this stomp swing. Brings back so many memories of my mum and dad during the war years. I cannot keep still when I hear these great swing bands , and wish the swing era would come back today. It is cool music. Excellent stuff.

Years ago, on our way home to LA from Las Vegas, my wife's mother, aunt and uncle were in the back seat. All had recently been widowed. A high desert station was playing music from the Big Band Era. Occasionally looking back in the rear-view mirror, I saw three bodies, but they were decades back in time, reliving the happier, youthful days of their lives with their now deceased spouses. It was a very quiet ride through the desert. In the years since all three have rejoined their spouses. But, in those few hours past and present met.

I have listened to this and watched it over and over for a few years. It is my happy spot. They give such a great performance with class but with some sly fun installed. John Packer does a fine job of keeping the crowd engaged and the musician into the feel of the show. Wish this would come back around the mid west.

At home, my wife and I had a great evening swing dancing to this!!! I could never SIT through the evening. Swing is for dancing. It is not sitting and listening music. Your dancing is part of the experience of Swing. What you moves you make on the dance floor is your interaction to the sound. With a live band the people on the dance floor feed into the playing. I would change the location, pull the chairs and get everyone out dancing! Ya I know that Goodman and Miller did some concerts, but Swing is made for dancing.

Sorry, for some of us, dancing is out. When my knees went, so did my dancing (and I learned all the stuff back in the seventies at good ole' Arthur Murray). Now, all I can do is tap my feet. Even standing for a long time hurts. I wish I could still swing. But now it's all done from a chair.

What's sad is no-one dances to this, just sitting. This music belongs in grand dance halls with people sweating off the week's stress dancing at tempo. This was the "rock" music of the day. I'm glad people love this next level musicianship. But I feel at it's best this music and the audience could be closer with some absinthe and movement. Just like nature intended.

I was very blessed to have parents who were in their 20's during this rage of music, thus I grew up in house were SWING was glorious glorified! I was one of 2, well maybe 4, in my graduation class who had any idea who, what and why there was SWING! My mom's older sister taught me how to swing as we often found odd hall rentals where a Big Band was playing. I'm 57 now. Those days of dancing with someone who lived it is gone for me BUT still I'm always looking for a big band to enbrace and SWING.

And, what a great time you would have. Morals were better (not so many single women with children, murder and abuse of children), kindness, thoughtfulness, and loving God are some of the things you would find in those years. Also, education, automobiles were better built and had class, a dollar bought a whole lot more, too. I could go on and on, but you probably already know the good things about those years. Oh, yes, they had wars as in today. But, overall it was better back then. SYLVIA- FL -10-08-2018

That is one of the stupidest things I’ve heard. Why the hell would you want to live on 1920-50s America. You would deal with: disease, crimewaves, the Second World War, the rise of the Soviet Union, the depression, and so on. I see so many people says this, but when people actually think about it they swallow their worlds. The 1920s-1940s, were bad for most of not all nations, recovering from the devastation of WW1 and having to deal with other issues. By the way, does “never coming back” mean getting killed, cuz there’s a lot of ways to die in those times

One thing that never ceases to amaze me is how much utility the jazz drummers can get from a very basic kit. Funny, because Neil Pert, great rock & roll drummer that he is can not get the sound with 30 drums surrounding him that these early jazz drummers can get with just 3 or 4 drums, a hat, and a cymbal or two.

Goblintrain Well, Rock and Jazz differ in that rock focuses more percussive interest on the tonal drums and snare, whereas jazz gets it from the cymbals.
