Working with E3D on this was a wild joy ride. They are an incredible engineering house with an infectious passion for designing better printing systems. I hope we can collaborate with them further in the future.

I've modified a voron 2.4 printer head to accept the new revo micro with the M12 thread modelled into the ABS and the orbiter v2.0 direct drive. Took a bit of re-modelling and the revo may take a while to arrive but it's looking good. Happy to share once I've proved it all works of course.

The Voron is arguably the fastest printer you can build. The revo has a max flow rate of 10mm^3sec? That’s like a top speed of 83mm/second using a 0.4 nozzle and standard layer heights. The revo is going to choke at speed. I’m tryin to understand the interest here. I’m sure the revo has a place, but on a Voron or a delta?

@@thelightspeed3d712 not everyone is hunting speed. The ability to rapidly add or pull heat from the revo hot end should allow more precise temp when changing speed or direction. It’s a scalpel, if you need an axe get a rapido. Oh and it’s new a different.

The Revo Creality is also a rigid mount, and is small and light weight. It might fit in the V0 as an option. Note that it comes stock with a different thermister to match the Ender HW, but the heater is physically the same as the other Revo's, so that can be swapped out.

The E3D tweet said it will not be "released" until after they have shipped the pre-orders for all the current Revo orders (Micro and V6 style). So I do not think we will be allowed to order yet.

Have you guys considered selling kits with a more sensible hotend like the Rapido 2? Feels kinda bad throwing away a hotend that costs $100, but the Revo is just too slow for anything except maybe a Switchwire. And don't get me started on those outrageously priced proprietary nozzles.

I got all excited for a moment. Then I saw the heatsink design :( All the weight and size savings are mitigated by the curvy (form over function?) fins that require a bulky and heavy fan mount. I would buy this in a heartbeat if I could use the clip on fan than is standard for E3D hotends.

Seriously though, just listen to your excuse for the failing of the Voron team - they could have simply kept the heat sink not curvy and it would fit the Voron toolhead just fine.

Any advantage “ridged mount” bs the micros large locking nut? Seems to me the large locking bug would have far more surface area to stabilize the assembly long term..? Both look sweet mind you.

You are correct, the micro will be much more rigid and will not have issues with the screws compressing the plastic. The advantage is that the heatsink will not rotate when loosening the nozzle - whish is not a problem on the Revo.

Im holding out for the Long Schlong Dong by Vzbot, I have watched its development and its excellent performance, I like the Revo and would have bought one if the hardened steel nozzles that were promised had materialised but they havent and my money for a new hotend is going on the LSD!

might be a stupid question but why do you need a ptfe tube either make the nozzle longer so it sticks out the top or put some copper or stainless tube in then you dont need to worry about the ptfe melting when pushing the speeds, sorry if it sounds dumb.

The ptfe sits about the heatbreak completely so nowhere near the "hot" zone, and you need something to guide the filament between the extruder and the small diameter of the revo heatbreak

E3D did full thermal validation,they found Revo Voron thermal performance to be better than v6 but not quite as good as Revo Micro, but very close. RevoVoron is smaller, less surface area, but benefits from a larger fan than revo micro. With revo there is a lot less heat to deal with in the first place. You can also nearly double thermal performance by applying thermal grease at the cold side threads, but that should not be necessary unless you run really hot chambers. TL;DR will cool just fine

Whole Rapid Change looks like a copy of Protoprint Raptor which was much earlier on market before releasing of E3D. They use even a DLC coating and call it E3DLC, Protoprint stops using DLC and moves to another more suitable coating. And also there might be an IP problem in near future because Raptor is patent pending.

They are completely different designs. Only similar things are the heaterblock being round. The way the heater is made is different. How the nozzles fit are different.

Prusa has had a Nema17, lead screw shaft stepper motor in the MMU for many years now. Granted not long enough to use practically on a Z axis. No offense, but I don’t think you can take credit for creating that one.

I have a question. Vorons are fast right? Why are you guys chasing the lowest flow hotend for the Vorons? 10mm^3Sec is less than a V6? I’m confused genuinely on this decision. What’s the attraction?

Not sure why they are listing 10mm3/s, thats very conservative, it runs 16-18mm3/s printing abs just fine, and has no issues keeping up with most typical profiles for the voron.

Someone else on the team did the flow rate tests awhile back, it outperforms most older style Standard flow hotends by a bit, i just checked my slicer profile, i actually have it capped at 19mm3/s which it hits during infil @ 120mm/s with a .4 nozzle with .72mm flow @.2 lh

@@CanuckCreator Yeah that makes me believe it's actually correct. The reason is that we all know slicer settings are setting "limits" for the print. We need to have some independent tests. Maybe at the next big KZbinr conference, you can get Stephan from CNC kitchen to take it on. I am not sure how to test it myself. But I believe E3D's rating from what I have seen is "average" flow, "sustained" over a set amount of time. So assuming you can get 16mm^3s it probably is 10mm^3s. I am surprised no one is doing the science yet.
