I'm the video, in the biscuit and gravy recipe, Kristen didn't mention that she put a thickener in her gravy. I think she used floor according to the container sitting next to her stove. Milk and sausage won't thicken up enough for gravy in my experience.

Yes! Thank you!
@janemartin2292 жыл бұрын
You must've edited out the part where you added flour to the sausage (before adding the milk). The container was there, but if someone just added milk, it would never become a thickened gravy! I live in the South, and we love our sausage gravy and biscuits--I didn't realize it was popular in Utah! All the casseroles look great.

I thought Id chime in. I put about 2 heaping tablespoons on the sausage when its done cooking. I then stir it around to brown it a little so that it does not taste like raw flour. then add your milk. I need recipes which provide the necessary dish capacities. Using a typical 9x13 dish (i.e., 2.5 quarts) will usually provide enough space for most casserole recipes but will a recipe fill it 1/2 of the way? 2/3? 3/4? all the way? I need recipes with a beginning volume (i.e., capacity) of 6 cups, to fit in my 6-cup dish which fits into my counter top oven, In that you prepared the recipes, it is a shame that, at that time, you did not measure the pre-cooked volume in your pan. That would have been so helpful in that I would know how I needed to adjust the various recipes in order to get the 6 cups I need. Unfortunately you did not do that and, consequently, I cannot take the time to consider any of your recipes.

Am I missing the part where you add flour to the biscuits and gravy?! I’ve watched over and over and I see the flour is beside you but no mention of it. When I made it, it was all liquid and meat, it was not thick like flour would have made it.

That sounds delicious. I checked the recipe and you skipped the flour. Oops I know it needs flour but inexperienced cooks might just watch the video and wonder why their gravy is so thin. I don’t mean to be critical but I wondered if you realized that you skipped the flour.

@SixSistersStuff2 жыл бұрын
You are right. Every state is a little different. These were from my Walmart in my area in September. Your recipes might be a dollar or two more- but my goal is to help you find recipes that are a little cheaper. Walmart and Aldi are your best bet to find cheap prices. And you are right, we didn’t add in the cost of the new spices. I’m sorry about that. I usually don’t count seasonings into my prices because I can make a lot of recipes from them.
