8 years later, I tried this. Still works great. Make sure you score the line perfectly. If you don't the cut will be crooked. If it is not that bad, you can use a piece of glass with 60 grit sand paper to even it out. Also, use the appropriate face mask so you don't inhale the glass dust.

Luckily people all have a lot of face masks these days! 😂

Hay dude sick video i'm defiantly going to give this a try. :) For people wanting to know an alternative too using a glass cutter......... If you get a piece of string and soak it in a flammable liquid, tie that around the bottle on the area you want it to snap, light the string on fire leave it to heat the bottle for a few seconds then put the bottle in cold water it should pop off just the same. We use to make our weed bongs this way haha amazing how stoner craftsmanship can be used in lots of different areas
@tomkimmel81577 жыл бұрын
Domkid118 yeah I'm trying to figure out the bong. so you cut the neck off a bottle and it's a bong? 3liter soda bottle cut top off, 2liter soda bottle cut bottom off and put bowl in top of 2liter.....add water and it's gravity bong. so what's the type of bong you make by cutting neck off glass beer bottle?

I’ll tell you Mike, it’s all in the scoring around the bottle. It needs to be just right with the depth and straight and you will get a perfect slide. Set up the jig and, start cracking beers.

can i add a thought ? not all glass is made up the same. glass is made from melted sand & possibly some other minerals, the process of tempering is one difference that i know of. then there is fine chinaware/crystal & also oven/microwave proof. but i bet the quality & makeup of the glass is a big factor... AND.......dang , i now have to go researching the web , because i just realized that i know very little about glass.. lol...
@mulekickhandmadeguitars84652 жыл бұрын
@@guitarman_3693 Hi, I've been getting my wine bottles from local restaurants. What is this "tempering process" you speak of? I build 3 & 4 string electric Cigar Box Guitars, and I'd like to include an authentic bottle neck slide with each build, if I could. Some CBG players like to use a slide for some of their songs. Anyway, I thought it would be cool to offer them.

you don't want the cut (score) to be deep...it should just be far enough into the glass for a fine line.....if it's too deep, it will be jagged.
