Yeah, I'll have to remember this video if I ever find myself owning a water spraying ceramic tile saw.

Thanks for sharing this Del. I've been wondering about how to use a tile saw to cut the necks, and your video answered my questions very well.

That's great if you have a tile cutter. Unfortunately, most people probably don't have one.

Best slide I ever had was unearthed in a field by the tractor, it was an old green MtDew bottle neck, it was broke jagged but it’d been In the clay for decades and it was dull and smoothed by the soil. I haven’t seen it in a couple years, come to think of it.

I'm just a POOR guy...can't afford those power tools. I've made a couple from Whiskey bottles using a cheap 'Dremel' type tool...woked out pretty good too Del...

piercedarrow57 yeah, that’s what worked best for me too. Takes a while and tends to ruin the drill bit, but like you said - much more cost efficient and the end result is just as good. The whole hot/cold trick didn’t work for me at all (3 attempts left me with some pretty lethal looking bottlenecks).

I've been saving some wine bottles for doing this. I was gonna use the hot/cold method with a glass cutter. After watching, I may have to borrow my tile saw I gave to my stepson! Thanks for showing how you do it!👍😎🎸🎶

Great video...don't have any of this equipment, but very good! Thank you.

The easiest and safest way is to make both cuts holding the bottle...tip first then main cut 🤔

YES! I was thinking the exact same thing. Great video though. I may try this with beer bottles.

I've found it IMPOSSIBLE to cut the very top (the bit where the cork/screw cap goes) of the bottle off using the scoring/hot/cold method. Last slide I gave up after 25 attempts. This method works amazing. First time, every time. And my saw is just a cheap $29 Chinese saw.

Mr. Puckett, your videos are really inspiring. But please, for a safety mesure, attach the buttons from these sleeves or wear a short sleeve shirt. :) Otherwise, keep up the good work!

I know this is about specifically making a glass slide, but for folks who don’t think they can get the tools, or the hot and cold trick doesn’t work for them, I know some guys like to use copper wire wrapped around their finger. Gives a slightly different sound imo.

What brand/size of wet tile saw is that one? I bought a cheap Harbor Freight one a few years ago for this, and other things. It slings water everywhere and I hate using it.

Look now, those other bottle neck slide makers are disliking your vid, cause you're giving away their ancient techniques and traditions. They won't be able to pay their bonds because you had to go and show the common man how its done. Sales of tile cutters have skyrocketed since you posted this 👍

This method is relatively pricey. Since most of us don't own a tile saw the next alternative is to rent a tile saw and the minimum for a tile saw at my Home Depot is $38 for 4 hours! This method is not cost-effective for most!?!

Expensive equipment when you can buy one around £3 to £4. if your prepared to wait you can get them from china cheaper. I mean how many do you want? 2/3 is enough.

@@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar Del, I'm truly a fan and learned so much from your videos! Here in the UK our hero is chicken bone John and he has a video on his youtube channel saying that cork necked wines are the best for slides, I'm confused 🤷♂️🤷♂️ I've thrown thousands of pounds worth of slides away if that's the case 😪😪
