Thank you so much for this. I built this yesterday with only 3 levels as I was running out of materials to build more. With 3 levels I was still able to produce about 3-4 stacks of gunpowder per hour of AFKing (i was stationed about 25 blocks straight out from the chest). I also built this about 40 blocks above the cold ocean and at least 80 blocks from any land. I have my simulation Distance set to 6 and no issues with the drop rates.

To anybody who's having trouble with creeper spawns try building the farm 100-200 blocks in the air depending on your simulation distance, since if it's too low to the ground mobs can still spawn in caves underwater. This worked for me

Guys, i made so many creeper farms and finally found the perfect one, everything what he does do exactly the same, and you dont need 5+ layers. 3 layers is already enough so you dont need to farm alot, believe me 3 is enough but if you want more you do 5+ layers.

See I was sceptical about doing this farm because the comments saying how it doesn’t work or the rates are quite slow, But I had just completed Blazes Enderman farm and that works like a charm, this farm is in line with that one. Build 100 blocks above your ocean level, I did 10 layers, And a massive leaf roof so things could spawn during the day. Definitely give this one a go

Ah finally... so much effort, finally done, the rates from the video seem incredible... And nothing is spawning... 20 seconds, a glimpse of green yet no gunpowder in the chest. All hoppers are linked, yet nothing. Edit: wow, a creeper spawns every 2 minutes. this was definitely more useful than building an enderman farm. Edit 2: Done a test, I get 0 gunpowder in 5 minutes

I would also make a rail around it to afk in because since you moving it can make the creepers spawn better it works for me and I just did a rough perimeter that’s wider then the roof

Are you in 1.20? You can try downloading my world to see what is different. I would suggest reloading your game, maybe leaving the area and coming back. I know the farm works but sometimes it's just about getting them to spawn, lol.

The roof is to make sure that the farm is fully dark during daytime. You can try that but you will probably still need to do the roof

You can leave the game, click the pencil and change it to 4, or just make sure there aren’t any non spawn proofed areas within 6 chunks.

I remember building this exact farm last year and there was a bug that would allow spiders to spawn even when it was built correctly. Has that bug been patched so to only allow creepers to spawn?

Sadly not, that is just how Minecraft works, you have a random chance of how much you get. Looting 3 will give you better drops but you will have to manually kill them

For some reason when i build a platform 25 blocks away. I see creepers going down and down. But when i fly to the chest, no gunpowder has been added. But as soon as i go down to the chest. The gunpowder is pouring in the chest. Any ideas whats going on?

This is a first, lol. Try checking the hoppers, maybe they aren't all pointing into the chest. That is a really weird issue lol

Mine isn't working. I did it exactly to spec, but all mob types (other than spider) continue to spawn. it's just that the skeletons, zombies, and witches get stuck where they spawn. So after an hour, things just straight up stop coming through. When I climb up to check, I see levels with a dozen non-creeper mob-types just standing there unable to move. What am I doing wrong? This is being done on a friend's realm if that makes a difference.

Did you miss any trap doors on the roof? The only way they could spawn is if some trapdoors on the roofs were not there.

Just built this on the latest Minecraft Bedrock for iPhone and it does work Kinda. It still spawns other mobs but you also get creepers so it’s still kinda cool. I only made it x2 high in survival mode. Ignore the haters, they built it wrong!! AFK 30 away

I don’t believe so. Sadly a few months back they patched that so now you need to kill them, not just hold out the sword

Try reloading your game, and AFKing at different places. Sometimes bedrock can be buggy so try at the base, the middle, 25 blocks away, etc.

How about an auto snowball generator tgat feeds into a dispenser that then fires snowballs for knockback? Can even rig the output of dispenser to shoot snowballs through lava. Surprisingly enough, it doesn't destroy the snowballs. It actually sets them on fire allowing the snowballs to deal fire damage. Freaking hilarious.

@BlazedMCs oh, it works! I currently have a creeper farm using it. I have 4 snow golems pinned in place so that each golem stands on 4 hoppers each. Each hopper has a piston that scrapes off the snow into snowballs. Hoppers chain then feeds my dispensers that are timed to shoot for 5 seconds every 30 seconds. I also use redstone to deactivate the pistons when a chest is more than half full, so there will not be an abundance of snowball drops just sitting there. Had to raise dispensers 3 blocks up to back them up so I could shoot snowballs through lava while lava was far enough back to not raise light levels too high. Soul fire works as well, but requires same distance even though it emits lower light. Because it takes 17 blocks for snow ball to drop low enough to hit the mobs. Snow balls hit the creepers dealing knockback and also ignite the creepers. Infinite supply of fire snowballs. Piston collection collects 5.4×4=21.6 snow balls per second while each dispenser fires 3 snow balls per second. Only allowing the dispensers 5 seconds of firing out of every 30 seconds allows for snowball generation to stay ahead of snowballs shot. The fire snowballs aren't necessary, as the knock back alone is enough to push the creepers off a ledge, but I had to use the fire for LOL sake.

There's a limit because even though you can increase your render distance you cannot increase the distance that mobs can spawn

Try AFKing at different spots, that’s what works for most people. Also hard mode.

Only OG’s know this is a remake of an old video, but the trapdoors in the holes used to be buttons. Do I have to use trapdoors now?

Haha lol. Yea, with a new update, buttons don’t work anymore unfortunately

Nope that shouldn’t be an issue. Make sure your game is on a hard, try AFKing at different spots, and if that doesn’t work, you can try downloading my world to see if you messed up somewhere.

You must have built the platform size a bit wrong. If you don’t want to change it just place signs overtop or the hole so the water doesn’t flow over :)

Make sure your game is on hard, and restart it as well

so to build 8 total layers you will need 24 stacks of trapdoors, 800 buttons and 40 stacks of blocks i think you should also include the total amount instead of just per layer, i get why you would do that but its a bit confusing

In the past I've noticed they stop spawning on platforms past 7 but maybe it changed
