Minecraft 1.20 adds many farmable items to the game allowing players to advance and survive. One amazing farm is the creeper farm for gunpowder! This video shows one of the best ones!

Some major improvements: build the walls with stairs. This is important because stairs do not interfere with pack spawning so you will increase rates even if the pack cannot entirely spawn. Tinted glass or glass with a roof works as well. Light up the area immediately outside the farm or there will be night time spawns. Also make sure that an area about 5-10 blocks wide is available but unspawnable for the pack spawn checks. Place the cats on chests. That prevents them from teleporting away. Soul fire killing chambers are the way to go. That maximizes the damage the creepers take so new ones can spawn. Ideally drop them down about 7 blocks and don't use a water stream at all. There should only be minimal spawn proofing required.

@@Celticshade Over 300 million Minecraft players *only* use bedrock (Mojoang's own stats). Java players are a very small amount compared to the bedrock players. This is why all tutorials should ALWAYS state if they're bedrock or java ONLY, or work on both. Various YTubers are actually very good at doing this.

it's also useful to turn down render and simulation distance when afking so mobs spawn in chunks closer to you. if the area around the farm is lit up, you'll get more spawns inside the farm.

Building it on the land will drasticly decrease your spawn rates. But if you build it in like an ocean and then afk like 120 blocks above it it will make it acctualy pretty damn good.

To all the people saying underground or sky. Wrong, the higher a platform is less mobs spawn. Why not underground? Because there will be caves and so it's recommend to have a perimeter. The best alternative is to build it in a deep ocean so there are less caves, it's down to sea level and you afk it high up so caves aren't loaded

Note to anyone else building this: This is also a stackable design if you replace the slabs on the roof with whole blocks and make the next level on top of that, it can be stacked as high as you want.

If you are on bedrock use fence posts instead of carpet. For some reason the spiders will still spawn on the carpet, but not the fence posts. Edit: on bedrock I also would not recommend building this creeper farm as for some people it doesn’t even work with the fences.

I love that this is the most simple creeper farm and it works well for java. While in bedrock, if you want to make the "simplest" creeper farm youre gonna need thousand of trapdoors, thousand of button, thousand of leaves.

btw, if you have looting 3, you can do what i did where they go to a nether portal which drops them into a large killing chamber on the nether roof. It’s also means any other nearby farms on the nether room will be active too!

Edit 2: I rebuilt my farm and rates are much much lower than pre update. Edit: it was patched last night. Should be good to go now. Just an FYI, this does not work currently on bedrock as of today. Spiders are ignoring their 3x3 spawn and are spawning on 1x1 blocks again. Gotta wait til they patch it.

I have a idea to improve it, while I don't know why you have to afk in the sky. If you build 22 blocks up and build the farm off of it you can have them drop to 1 hp and not have to climb a bunch of scaffolding. Saving climbing and killing time. plz respond and tell me why going afk in the sky is necessary (I only play java but have played bedrock before)

it is because mobs spawning takes place at certain levels just like if you were above the surface and mobs were in caves below it just shifts upward but nice recommendations you made!

You have to afk in the sky because if you don’t, then mobs will spawn in the caves below and take up mob cap. There’s a big sphere around you, and you only want that creeper farm to be in your sphere otherwise the rates will be terrible

Pro Tip: Build it atleast 128 (i preffer the Chest Platform at 130) over an Ocean. This way only Creepers can spawn AND there are no other Spawn locations for any other mob wich basically gives you ONLY creeper spawns Also put a bed there for night times

I have noticed a problem with this Minecraft farm. The problem is the cats could walk into the hole. how I like to solve it is by placing fences throughout each side and taming the cats and then leashing them to the fences with leads it’s recommended to place the fences closer to the corners farther from the hole and the reason why this works is because the leads will stop the cats from going any further and falling into the hole

Should start with the 120 scaffolds up and build the complete farm on top of that... This will prevent other spawns nearby.

That is not how spawning works. There is a maximum amount of mobs that can spawn at any time. The more mobs there is the less new mobs will spawn. Mobs spawn in radius of 128 blocks around the player. Beyond the radius no mobs will spawn. By towering 120 blocks above the farm you guarantee no mobs spawn outside the farm. Lower y values (height) have higher mob spawn rate. Building the farm up high would decrease the spawn rates. Building the farm at bedrock level would theoretically give the best rates, given you spawnproof all the blocks in the radius.
