I need simple cheap crown moulding to replace that in my 35 year old doublewide. I like clean and simple straight lines and this is easy and perfect. I used just 1/2 x side casing at top fillet and a top casing. Very clean and nice and simple. I did use ripped down 2x4's but it's been 5 years and no warping or other issues and if one warps it costs about $1 to replace plus paint. Thanks for this it just saved the rest of my summer I can make enough for the entire house in a long weekend.

Oh man! I didn't even know there was such a thing as 23ga stapler. Gotta get one. And. I really love the look of that moulding
@henrymostert2125 Жыл бұрын
The best part is you can use any size of material for it. Plus you can add to this molding if you want different profiles on the inside

Wow! Love the simplicity and the look is amazing. Will be using this to trim out some of my smaller furniture projects for sure. Thanks for sharing Henry!

@@cindybeckwith1533 thanks Cindy. It's been very helpful especially on species of wood that I can't get made into crown molding

Love the idea and the stitching got you a sub. The only downside I see is getting the 1x material in long enough stock. Specifically if it was to be stain grade. That could be tough. For paint grade, it might be worth investing in a finger-joint router setup and a jig.
@henrymostert2125 Жыл бұрын
Thats a good point. Where im at. I can get poplar in long lengths but other species not so much. I like the idea for the finger jount. Hears an option. Use the stitching method to make longer stock. Even a but joint would work. Then run the mitered piece's over the joint and stager the jount. Tuus is good food for thought. Thanks 👍

Great video. Which brand of 23 gauge stapler do you recommend. That looks like a old porter cable.
@henrymostert21253 ай бұрын
I think most brands so long as it's an upholstery stapler will be pretty well the same. From what I've seen there's only a couple of companies that make them. You can get commercial ones as well but they're quite a bit more expensive. The one I have is an old Porter Cable that's correct. I bought it to put screens on an overhanging porch. And then it sat for years until I figured out I could use it for other things.

Would you use MDF for this? Thank you.
@henrymostert2125 Жыл бұрын
Hi George absolutely I would use MDF for this. Make sure that you prime the backside as well when you paint it because it has a horrible tendency to warp if you only paint it one side

I do most of my work on a radial arm saw, so I'm not exactly the biggest safety Nazi out there. But c'mon dude, at least put on some eye pro while you're shooting a pneumatic staple gun in the general direction of your own face. 😬
@henrymostert212511 күн бұрын
You're absolutely right. The safety squints just don't cut it. I guess eventually it's like rolling the dice. I'm at a point now I have to wear glasses to see better in the shop maybe this is my way of getting used to it LOL
