Have a happy (and safe) Halloween! These are the most basic sugar cookie recipes that I could put together. It's all variation on a theme, hopefully if you wanted to make this, you most likely already have all the ingredients in your kitchen!

I am fascinated by this recipe process, using natural colorings. This is really interesting to me, and I recall the time I saved gobs of beet puree as a substitute for oil in quickbread recipes (because, too many icky beets from the garden). Your video is amazing, you have so much talent!

Chef Bill, these look delicious! Im glad you used beet juice because some people can taste red food coloring and it's not delicious. Why don't the Spooky Sam cookies have baking powder, but the other two do?

Thank you! The first cookie was intended to be very minimal and baking powder is not needed to make it rise. The edges of the shape stay sharper as well without baking powder. I added baking powder to the other two because cream cheese and the cocoa powder make the dough more dense, and a little lift and spread help them bake up better.
