The EASIEST RV Repair Ever, With Instant Curb Appeal

Thanks for an incredible 2023!! And Happy 2024!!
I just wanted to share a quick repair(upgrade?) I have been wanting to do on my 2001 Beaver Patriot Thunder since I bought it. And the other mirror finish is bubbling too.
The chrome on the power Velvac side mirrors is peeling and rather than fuss with expensive replacement or crazy amount of paint work, I decided to just try something quick cheap and easy.
Pretty much this was all in real time. Likely if I wasn't filming I could have installed without wetting the surfaces but I cannot be happier with the results and I'll track and see how the repair holds up over time

Great idea James, quick, easy, and frugal. It looks better than new with the gold emblems. My first thought was leave the backing on after cutting to size, tape it in position on the bottom and slowly/carefully peel and squeegee from the top. The wet method probably worked better and is easier, I've had trouble with it before but I might have had too much soap on those occasions. 👍

James, you way under estimate the value of your vids. This might be an incredibly simple fix/repair, but a solution not everyone has thought of to use for themselves. Not all repairs have to be complicated and difficult to do. Sometimes it's just getting an idea what to do, and how it will turn out. This is one of those, and it's much appreciated!!

Great job .. I wrap a piece of thin felt on one edge of the body putty squeegee instead of electrical tape...working from the center out for air bubbles... minimizes sticking to your wrap .😊😊😊

Great Idea. I have the same damage on a new to me Phaeton mirror and will do the same. I don't know why I didn't think of it. I did have clear peeling on my front and rear cap so $165 worth of vinyl and few hours labor I save about $2600 to paint booth. Perfect NO but from the ground you can't tell. Thanks James

I asked you a while back about where I might find something to put on the curved aluminum extrusions on the bottom of our bay doors on our 2003 Newmar Dutch Star DP to look like yours(chromed or polished stainless) and I think this would look really good, don't know how long it will last but I like the look of yours and the newer Newmars that have than shinny rolled edge on the bay doors. Thanks for posting James. I figured out how to disassemble our bay doors that had some delamination between the filon painted outer skin and the styrofoam core and saved 800.00 for the door plus the paint to paint it, as the original paint looked almost perfect.

We were in Beaver Utah coming south for the winter,we got our RH mirror hit by a trailer turning in front of us and we have a spot to cover on ours,I will definitely use your technique, and a funny for ya they sell nice I Love Beaver stickers there,that would have been a fun fix for you😅
