GREAT video. Thanks for implementing what Ocean Aquariums introduced to the world and making it more accessible.

I find the Sodastream CO2 really easy to find and low cost enough for me. Passive is super easy and is a simple step in the right direction :)

Yeah i was tempted to use one of my normal keg king co2 bottles but the sodastream is so portable and easy

What a creative idea and seems better than the passive Fluval kit I purchased in the past. Thanks for sharing!

How do we connect a 4.5 kg co2 fire extinguisher that's sounds like a out of the box idea

Hi Blake, thanks for your creative design of CO2 equipment. Wonder how to manage the amount of CO2 into the tank per second? For example, Steel bottle CO2 connected with diffuser allows us to set 1 bubble per 2 seconds.
@BlakesAquatics4 жыл бұрын
hi mate, the way to control how much dissolves is to limit the surface area, smaller opening equals slower diffusion, larger opening equals more co2. cheers for watching
@bbbaa27064 жыл бұрын
@@BlakesAquatics Thanks for your kindly reply. About the surface area, do you mean the size of transparent container which attached to the fish tank?
@BlakesAquatics4 жыл бұрын

Good video, Blake! I like the idea of a little extra co2 for the plants. not looking for maximum growth, just a boost. Would you say this is mainly for smaller tanks?

Could we use a small container and only fill lightly to control having a small enough amount of co2 in the container that it diffuses over the course of the day rather than staying on at night/lights off?
@BlakesAquatics Жыл бұрын
The co2 will dissolve until it reaches saturation point. A smaller container will just fill/ empty faster
@dylanb9277 Жыл бұрын
@@BlakesAquatics I figured as much, so if I find the right size container I could fill in the morning and it would ideally empty itself before lights off (erring on the side of caution)

Dunno if it would be a problem, but if you have corys, bettas or other labyrinth fish, I would not use this method. Since they gulp air and use haemoglobin just like us, my guess would be that you could kill your fish if they decide to gulp from the wrong place. Co2 is toxic in high concentrations, not just oxygen displacing. Maybe just a net or something permeable would fix this, or if not needed, alleviate some anxiety.
@BlakesAquatics3 ай бұрын
@@rolfkarlsson276 yeah just placing a foam block at the opening would solve that
