Would you make these for specific people where you can make the perfect length strap or go with a standard size?

Just finished making one of these, with some slight modifications based on a pattern I used previously (added pockets which I'm not 100% happy with, and cut the lining a little short & stitched some accent fabric along the top of it to bring it back up to size). I like the ease of the boxed bottom, and the fact that it includes a key holder (I used a lobster claw on mine). I love how thick & cushy the strap turns out; never again will I use a lighter interfacing on a strap! I do prefer the look of a rounded bottom, but it's nice to have options.

I have "water bottle with pocket for a phone" on my list but haven't tackled it yet. Isn't it great how we can fix mistakes with more fabric? 🥰

@@ArtistTaraReed Cutting it short was deliberate so I could add an accent fabric as trim, but yes I've been in the "there, a little patch and no one will notice..." situation before. 🙂

I was just going to make a pattern up, but was totally going to do a circle bottom and I'm so glad I decided to look it up instead. Thank you! I love my new bottle holder. One comment about the tutorial, though. I was able to figure it out on my own, but you completely left out how to complete the squared bottom. The instructions say to sew down the sides and across the bottom, but never what to do with the notched edges.

I loved your video. Maybe I missed though on how long each piece for the straps are cut. It looked like about 15" and then you sew them together. Anyway, I'm short, so my strap won't we as long, not even the 50" you indicated. I'll have to adjust. Thank you again

How much adjusting should be good for a Yeti bottle with a circular base just under 4" Would 1.75 " be good without throwing the dimensions off of the rest of the bag?
@ArtistTaraReed
@ArtistTaraReed 9 ай бұрын
That's a tricky one since the top is usually wider than the bottom so you'd need to do the measurements to accommodate the widest part of the bottle

Hi, My bottle measures 3 3/4" at the base and is 12" round. If I allow 4" at the base, should I cut a square that is 1 3/4" by 1 3/4" so that the sewn width of the base will measure 3 1/2" or should I cut the square 2X2 so I have 4" width for the base? Is 1 1/2" square the way to go? @@ArtistTaraReed

@@marialuisarosiello7799 Is your Yeti the same size at the top as the bottom? If not you need to make it sized for the top since it's a straight holder. You can find a chart that gives the math on my blog - I don't want to give you the wrong info if your bottle is bigger at the top like my Yeti is > tarareed.com/sew-a-water-bottle-holder/

What is the ideally used fabric? I have a ton of cotton but I'm not sure about the lining

I used cotton for both the outside and lining and fusible fleece (Pellon 971f I believe) for the padding. Have fun!

Its easier to have the outside fabric turned right sides out. Then the straps can be pulled out of the hole in the lining. It makes it less bulky

How did the bottom magically get stitched all-around? I only see the bottom seam getting stitched?
@ArtistTaraReed
@ArtistTaraReed 5 ай бұрын
Well that was an unfortunate editing mistake! it should have been done at 10:18 before moving on to the straps. After you sew the 3 sides, you then match the seams and the sides of the cut-out for the bottom and sew with 1/4" seam. You can see it sewn at 17:21 or see how the box bottoms are done in my wine bag tutorial - kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYCTaaueoZl5q8k - you will use the same method
