@@BlueBearFlutes My wife picked me up one at our local Hobby Lobby and after figuring out how to use it it worked great. I turned a whole pile of leather scraps into usable lace. It's also just fun to use and see the strips it marks. :) Thanks again for the tip and all your videos.

Thanks a lot, it took me a while too find them in Germany, but I did. I grumply already settled with ready made lacing. I am a drum maker and I started making flutes last year (with great help from your book and video's) The lacing for the first 20 flutes I made with siccors..... wich wasn't really efficient and I really do like efficient. Now I can unsettle again and make my own lacing again, cutting it with siccors was a pain in the ass... but it certainly was a better quality lacing than the rolls i am using now... and I really do like too use scrap. For round holes I use scrap peaces of copper tubes sharpend on a belt sander as hole punchers.

Skiving knives are used to thin the edges of thick leather to be sewn together in multiple layers. Upholstery manufacturing plants require it to sew leather furniture. Usually done in the hide cutting plant

Hi Charlie, Thanks for your explanation. It is very interesting and helpful. In spite of practicing almost daily for 5 months, I'm still producing sounds like a dying goose a lot of the time I since cannot feel the holes of my G minor flute at all due to severe neuropathic damage in my fingers from Carpal Tunnel. Using the Piper's Grip helps and I'm thinking of using a thick, fat lace to wrap between the holes of my flute to guide my fingers to develop muscle memory `(at least until I can buy one of your smaller flutes). I love the music this wonderful instrument makes.

Thanks for sharing this secret . Using leather to make lots of types of bindings and ties. I will be looking for small bamboo to make more double eagle calls this summer. Usually the citronella yard candles at wallmart .

Lots of practice. I have been using one for over 20 years! Honestly, I mastered it in the first year however. So I know you can do it!
