I wholeheartedly agree with the need for crop rotation, there is one exception, though: I have planted tomatoes at the same places, respectively hoop houses, for many years without any noticeable damage.

Lucky you! We have a pest around here called "leaf-footed bugs" that are bad news on tomatoes. Rotation helps keep them manageable.

I buy from Steele also. Have you ever tried their Murasaki. They are delicious !!!!! Purple on the outside and cream color on the inside.

We've never tried them. We know the Steele guys personally, and they told us that the purple sweet potatoes are not very productive compared to the traditional orange/red varieties. So we took their advice and haven't grown them.

Depends on soil type and what the weather is doing. Usually turn it on in the late afternoon for3-4 hous

Lol when you said the seedlings looked pitiful! Most seedlings look like that the first day but I always worry about them. I’ve seen some videos saying you should cut back the flowers. Do yours flower and do you cut them off?

Wonder what would make my squash rot before it even gets ripe or ready to pick the plants there self are beautiful wondered if it has been to much rain I put stuff around to bottom so they don't lay on the ground

Sounds like blossom end rot, which is due to a calcium deficiency. Tomatoes, peppers and eggplant can also get this. Add some gypsum (hosstools.com/product/pelletized-gypsum-soil-conditioner/) to the soil to increase calcium levels.

Plant in October/November. Start the transplants about 4-5 weeks before your intended "in-ground" planting date.

How many times do you hill your sweet potatoes. I, and most people around where I live in Tn hill before we plant and put the plant in the hill. I am always looking for better and easier ways to do things if they work.

We hill them just a few times. We don't make a tall hill like we would with Irish potatoes.

If it's a fungal disease, liquid copper is probably going to be your best bet.

Keep them in a cool, dry, shaded area. We put them on the drying rack under our pole barn, just like we do potatoes, onions and winter squash.
