I noticed that at first I could not manage barre chords. Fingers were too weak. But with time and practice fingers became stronger and now I can do barre. Before I had no idea that finger also have muscles :)

Yes, I’m planning on lots of guitar content this year. I would say try the push pull trick with your guitar, but keep your neck more so parallel with the floor. Hi ! So I am almost 6 ft. But my hands are average size well my fingers. I feel like my pinky is my weak link to getting these barre chords. I’m at the point now where I can play a Bm or F type barre chord and it finds out find. But I am not kidding, it’s been like a year of not being able to switch between barre chords or between open chords to barre chords. I’ve been trying to do the D to Bm because I have some songs I love that require those chords and it’s like I have the slightest pause because my fingers just quite don’t land in the right spot as they do when I switch from open chord to open chord. I feel a lot of it has to do with my pinky just not being right. It’s really getting me frustrated. But I want to get better and take this next step. Have you seen people with this issue? I am a total ukunewbie and struggle with this. I have been experimenting all day trying various things including this method to no avail (especially when barring the first fret for some reason). Oddly, it is a lot easier when I use my pinky…does any one play with the left hand over top, pointing down 😂

I too have small hands and struggle with Barr chords. I’ve tried many ways to get them right, it’s hit and miss. Your technique sounds solid and I will certainly give it a try and hopefully it will do the trick. My left thumb Muscle aches and hurts when barring chords which frustrates me to know end! Some good points made there, but you missed extending your index finger further towards the nuckle. I suggested that to my daughter and the improvement was instantaneous. Try it yourself.

I try and try, it absolutely does not work for me. Either I can play the one half (index-finger on 2 or 3 strings, 4 do not work) OR I play the other half (with the other finger(s). Both together, no chance. It sounds better if I bow / cant (do not know the right word) the indexfinger towards the saddle (though it should be just the other side, but then I absolutely do not get the fingers in an angle where they work together. It is so frustrating right now 😞

I know you can do it! It took me a good year to have my barre chords sound somewhat decent when I started on the guitar, so you’re not alone. The ukulele was one of the first editions, I believe. Now, you can find the same uke with the Enya logo instead of the K. That would be pretty cool if it were custom for me. I do love it.

I completely understand where you’re coming from. The camera can be very deceptive because I do have really small hands and short fingers. I’m just really small overall 😂. It did take a good year to be able to make my barre chords sound so what decent when I was learning how to play them on the guitar, so I feel your pain…literally. I have made a couple of videos with some more barre chord advice. Don’t give up 😀. I know you can do it. It took me an entire year to get my first barre chord in the guitar to sound decent, so you’re not alone.
