Nice video, he’s got the right idea. If confused there are more detailed videos out there. Pro tips; use oversized self tapping sheet metal screws to secure the motor back in place, no nuts & bolts yay. Put dynomat sections inside the door against the body, aim for 25% coverage. For even more sound deadening add foam padding to the back of the upholstered panel. Door will sound crisp when shut. You can also order new plastic covers, window sweeps, door sealing gaskets, plastic push pins, etc. If your particle board backing is falling apart use metal tape to reinforce it where needed. Also be sure to lube everything while you’re in there. And if you need to fix your door handle, do it now! Don’t forget and put everything back together like I did lol.. maybe I should make a video..

DUDE THANKS!!! Was looking for tips and your video nailed it all! My motor was previously replaced…they riveted the assembly back in BUT bolted the motor to the reg…ONE SCREW fell out causing the motor to twist and bind up…also front of window came out of track…SAVED ME the wait on shipping and hassle of replacement. “Marilyn” ‘91 Convertible Z28 Yokota US Airbase, Tokyo

Bad assery as usual over here on Matt's channel. First time I did one on the fiberglass doors of a 4th gen, I started and then checked YT later to find out how many shortcuts there were. Did not have the pleasure(s) of digging into a metal 3rd gen door yet somehow. Thank you for your wizard magic lessons, but whoever painted your car was HARDCORE. Damn, look at that coverage! I remembered after uploading this video, that I did in fact remove the whole window regulator when I last replaced it. I replaced the doors when I installed my ground fx, so I had to swap my power regulators into the doner doors which had manual windows. I riveted the regulators back in, making it look like they weren't touched! Yea, so that confused me a little....

Hot dang. I was getting worked up when I seen everything was riveted. This was a breeze compared to what I was going to do. Replacing all those rivets with bolts I was not prepared for. Hardest part was door panel and getting all the tools.

Hey if wanna tip for changing your oil warm the engine up abit then drain it but wear gloves just incase it's to hot then put 500mls of the new oil down it with the drain plug out so drains straight through and cuz the oils warm it will drain more of the crap out n then the old oil won't stick as much to your engine internals then top it right up with the new

How many rivets are there holding on the motor from the factory? Can you easily get to all those rivets by drilling holes like you did? You only had 2 holes drilled and you added a third hole in this video but from the factory I think there's at least 1 more rivet right?

I think from the factory it has 3 holding it on I believe. I think when I first changed it I removed the regulator, that’s why I didn’t have the third hole drilled. When I did my driver side I didn’t remove the regulator. I have a big rivet gun, so I riveted the regulator back in.

Informative video, I think you are a nice guy, but I don't think 3rd gens should be modified except for engine upgrades. These cars are stylish enough the way they were produced. I have owned two. However, keep on doing your thing man, I am glad to see my beloved 3rd gens rise in value!

That’s plate they give you is really small anyway. There’s no way that can be used . The bracket it has so much bigger and is what holds the corner sprocket and rails

So instead of doing as factory instruction direct...you WAIL on inner door structure to clear motor without complete track... and one you replaced lasts.....how long before you're here doing it again ? Without ALL the screws (rivets) in motor, it flexes the panel, and binds the drive, resisting window movement...and burns motor out.Nice car.

You need to grease the tracks

.... and then replace the motors again in a couple years or less because your shortcut didn't do anything about the reason why they failed in the first place... high resistance in the tracks. Lack of clean tracks with fresh lube and sticky rollers will murder those motors in no time flat. And the switches too.

those dorman motors are garbage. they move fast for awhile but they quicky slow down before they fail. already had to replace one in my 92 I restored a couple years ago. I just hope the dorman door lock motors last lol

Mine came with a broken driver regulator. I searched for affordable regulator for 3rd gen Camaros and couldn't find any in my budget. I then thought about the 4th gen Camaros having faster windows so I gambled and purchased regulators for a 4th gen. GM didn't change a lot of things between the generations. I had to use the passenger side on the driver side and vice versa. They are the same units fellas and cost about 40% of the price. Don't buy 3rd gen regulators. They come with motors already an are a lot faster now.

Steering wheel has to go
