I noticed the addiction usually stems from competitiveness and multiplayer games. I'm way better than before since I dropped almost all the multiplayer gaming from my life. Even if there was enough time for gaming (no job, no gf), there would be a much better time investment than trying hard to be good at these games. Even though I'm not a competitive individual at core, there are times I find myself competitive and try to compete with others in games. It was proven to me time and time again that it's nothing more than just wasted time. It doesn't even bring me joy, just relief at the expense of sleep time and energy. Strictly talking about entertainment, there are better ways to use your entertainment time and that even includes gaming, just not online competition with others that gives 0 revenue in return. If you're a competitive individual, best to save and use your energy for the things that actually matter (career, exercising etc.), not for video games.

I play a lot because I had a psychological trauma: I grew up in the same room with my parents. I had no personal space, and the only place I could get it was in the game. After a while, I moved away from my parents to another city, I had a job in life and a beautiful girl. but I still can't get beyond the feeling that "I have no personal space." I go into games when I'm under a lot of stress. it’s like a tool for overcompensating for the trauma that I never worked through

Honestly, I don't really find video games all that anymore. I just play them because I have nothing else to do in my free time. I have been doing well in real life with my job and college but don't have many irl friends. I'm 19 years old and stressed.

Hey, I've seen you conduct a few interviews on here with long-term gamers who ended up starting their own businesses or improving their overall lives. I recall you mentioning that you were in conversation with a highly skilled WoW player and a League of Legends player who provided insights into what the inside of these high-level communities looks like from an outside perspective. I believe it would be a fantastic idea to invite these individuals to a podcast or video chat and delve into their experiences at the higher echelons of gaming.

I have a gaming PC and a part of me feels that as long as I have that I’ll always be tempted again. Should I sell my gaming PC and just get a high end laptop that can’t be used for video games? Or should I just delete all of my video games and try theblack and white approach?

About clear boundaries. How do you all think? I quit all games except of two: a flight simulator as I want to become a pilot and a driving simulator as I learn driving rules now. These don't bring me dopamine but sometimes in the games I just start doing random things like drifting on a car or flying a fighter jet. I play 1 to 2 hours a day. Should I delete those or just set clear boundaries like playing only for studying purpoes? Thanks.

Abandoning altogether isn't the solution. I play once 2/3 month and a few games now and then, BUT the most IMPORTANT of all, don't play multiplayer games; they are all brain-damaging, 2017 my brain was 100% at duel links; doesn't even think to do anything else than playing it.
