Hi I know this is an older video, which I just came across. I have to say, this is the most detailed instructive demonstration I have come across. I appreciate that you took the time to explain and demonstrate each and every step, and leaving in the oops, I should have done this. I just read the 2 previous comments and noted they are arm chair generals, although they gave valid points, neither mentioned what an amazing video, you did. So I will. Thanks for sharing your talent. I have subscribed.

Loved the video and your instructions!! I learned about the zipper foot and about the sewing machine not sewing that uphill hump when you have zipper folded!! I also love your using the long zipper so you do not have to worry about pulling the zipper pull down and up while sewing!!! Hi Brenda, just another little thought, after you sew in the zipper I like to top stitch across this makes the zipper hold up a little better, but maybe you don't do that because it is easier to sew together with that extra bulk right by the zipper ends, what do you think or do you have a reason for not top stitching, please let me know, I would like to know the right way and you re so smart I trust your ways. thank you from Kelowna B.C. Canada.

Just a suggestion. Instead of piecing two smaller pieces of fabric together for the pocket, you could just cut one longer piece of fabric (5 1/2 x 8 1/12), fold it in half wrong sides together and then edge stitch along the top. This saves a step and eliminates the seam at the top of the pocket. A fold at the top of the pocket looks cleaner.
@brynse
@brynse 5 жыл бұрын
MadCityMan I must disagree. For a quick project, the 4 layers of fabric at the edge gives it a much better ‘body’ and it will wear better and not fray as easily in the long run. Otherwise using your method, you must interface the folded edge to stabilize it.

Brenda, I love this little bag, I made it great and I followed along with you and you explained it perfect, letting us know when it was RST and WST, etc. my only complaint is you are in the dark way too dark, and your voice is not loud enough, the only time it is loud is when you are saying goodbye, I have my volume up high as it will go and I have no way to make it lighter, but you are in the dark too much, but I love your patterns and your items , thank you for that.

Champee Sall Hi there Champee, Thanks for your nice comments! Yes, my little ironing board was an item I bought at my guild. It's made of 3/4 inch board, that has been covered with a layer of batting and then fabric. It's staple gunned to the back and little plastic feet have been added on the underside. It's very hard so when ironing you get a nice crisp press.

nice job! I do have one question. when using the bosal (or any heavier interface) how can you avoid the seams on the sides from showing when turning the project right side? looks like they are going to pop LOL tension setting? longer or shorter stitch? thx
@amongbrendasquiltsbags5408
@amongbrendasquiltsbags5408 7 жыл бұрын
Actually I have not had any problems with this but , you could compress the seam just as it enters the presser foot. You might also trim back the stabilizer 1/4" before attaching it to the outer fabric pieces. Thanks for your comment!

The foam makes your bag stand up. If you don't mind your bag slouching a bit, batting would work. Pellon makes the foam also, sew in, one sided fuse and double fuse.

I just finished my cell phone bag, which I’ve needed for a long time, and I’m grateful to you for showing me how to get ‘er done. Having said that, I’m unlikely to ever again consult you or your channel for help or inspiration. I found it demoralizing at first, and then darned annoying, to endure your frequent exclamations of “easy peasy” and “what fun” as I struggled to accomplish the steps that you’re able to breeze through. It would have been so much more helpful if you’d anticipated areas of difficulty for sewists less skilled than you, and encouraged us through them, or at least refrained from lording it over us as we waded through them.

Hi thaisoneon, I am glad you managed to complete your phone bag and regret that it represents a negative experience for you.
