This was awesome. More or less how I approach beats--starting with some sort of an arpeggio sort of establishes the parameters for synth, chords progressions, etc. Really nice work on the drums. Simple, but they hit.

What sounds good to your ears? It's that simple... Once you have something that sounds good.. Then polish it with the eq when mixing...
@seeni46472 жыл бұрын
just decide on what vibe ur going for then pick instruments that can kind of fit into the other sounds you already have. like if i was making a rage beat and I had a lot of long tone synths (i.e. a lead), maybe for a counter melody I'd have a pluck
@seeni46472 жыл бұрын
but u wanna also make sure your counter melody has a sound that slides with the main melody/chords, like for my guitar drill beats I like to use an acoustic to make guitar chords and a smoother electric for the melody

Depending on the genre is how you start, I will never start with drums when making melodic music but if I’m making breakbeat then I start with drums, there are no rules to how you start, what ever gives you inspiration that’s how you start.

Dope beat and dope structure but having no logic when coming up with melodies is tragic and makes u come up with trash a lot of the time…. The best way to do it is to select a chord progression and plug in notes according to the progression… this will change your life.

Not entirely true. This describes perfectly why Rap Beats aren’t the same as real musical pieces. This melody doesn’t develop or does anything at all. It’s basically just a manual Arp that’s not even very clever. Don’t write music like that. It won’t get you far. Start on a piece of paper, not in your DAW. Ideale what you want to accomplish, wall the extra mile. And then start to design the melody with just a classical piano - THEN start the sound design. Doing random stuff like this is nice to learn something - but you won’t create actual music with this. And definitely not very good rap beats.

Solid. This is why i would say practice and ear train and learn music theory. Alot of people really dont care on the music theory part and mostly quick to get to the bag more just to make a beat more so then practice When i heard the first melody i knew what key / Notes being used but that comes from ear training. And with the guessing around until you get something, You wanna just know when i click in or play something i know exactly what im hitting but again i practice. Good way to practice as well open a new fl studio and make 5 -10 melodies that your hearing in your head at first you might struggle but you will get faster at it and less mistakes. Then you will be able to jot down a idea without thought you will know the notes/key along with ear training
