The easy way to install Brompton rack without taking the wheel and mudguard off.

Again great video tutorial. One suggestion when fitting the rack, is to connect the top section first, thread the top rack screw near the brakes and connect the rear section last , 2 rack mounts each side and mudguard supports last. Otherwords, same as everything you did but in a different order. Worked for me with my older model 99 Brompton. thanks,

Great video and instructions however it doesn't work for installing the new Brompton rack. You still dont have to take the rear wheel and mudguard off. The trick is you can remove a rear break pad which is very easy. This will create enough space. Hope this helps someone save time.

Great idea to take out 2 mudguard stays ..I may do my 3 bromptons ....really enjoy your videos 😀👍the new racks are black, so I primed my silver one and sprayed it gloss black....looks good

A Brompton rack comes with a mud guard without a small wheel. Is there any reason you want to keep the old mud guard? I am quite inspired that it is possible to install a new set of rack without removing the rear tyre.

Hi actually my Brompton is bit old 2014, and rack I have is give from my friend, is not brand new. You right, if you buy new rack from Brompton for sure mudguard will be included. Before you change new mudguard make sure front and back same colour.

The brand is Brompton, actually this rack is quite bit old but the quality is really good. can I just buy the Brompton replacement rear rack( £66) ( which is without the rollers, fixings, mudguard etc) and just do what you did like remove the roller wheels on the mudguards to fit it in? I will just use roller wheels from decathlon and bungee cords from amazon?

Yes it’s good idea, rear rack not need to be from Brompton. Same as roller you can add it from any other smaller. Actually I bought one from amazon and I need to install it. Thank for your comment.

Hi Do you tighten all the screws? Just double check. Or make sure the metal holding mudguard is tight and right position. That all I can think of.

@@rizalsapi007 All the screws are tight. It's the part of the rack that would usually be attached to the mudguard which is rattling against it. I noticed that the official instructions have the rack installed on the other side of the frame bridge (i.e. on the same side as the brake caliper) rather than on the opposite side like you show. Is there a reason you put it on that side?

@@rizalsapi007 It looks the same (got it second hand, originally from a 2014 brompton) though my bike is newer. at around 9:45 you attach the rack to the opposite side of the frame bridge to the brake calipers. In this official video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5KrgWdvh9mDZ6s), the calipers are removed from the bridge entirely, and the rack is attached next on the bolt before it is inserted back through the bridge.

@@LeoMRogers I see, thanks for the info. The way Brompton installed and me is bit different, I show one comment in this video, he say the way I do will not work to newer rack. But you not need to worry, if possible try to figure out to fix that part, otherwise you need to open all the wheels and stuff. I am sure will you can do it. I am sorry Leo, I can’t help you.
