The easy way to use Fish Baskets | Shadowmane Taming | ARK

Having trouble trapping fish in baskets? This simple raft build will make your life much easier! It works for any type of fish including Coel, Piranhas and Salmon. It even protects you from the dangerous creatures found in the Rockwell zone of Genesis part 2 where Shadowmanes spawn.

Thanks for your build videos, i have learned a lot of tricks from you. It's nice to see someone finally use that method to set a foundation at deck level on a raft. This works on platform saddles as well but it works out a bit differently. I have been doing it this way since about the time scorched earth dropped. To get a square foundation dead center i set a fence foundation longitudinally covering the mast hole with one leg of the foundation at the front edge of the deck. Then snap another fence foundation at a 90 degree angle then snap a pillar to the end of that, remove fence foundations and a square foundation will snap to the floating pillar at deck level. From there i usually build a 3x5 raft base for early game.

So I copied this exactly and I found two things: 1. The parts list shows two foundations but if you watch the video and try to build it yourself you will need three, two for the top and one underneath. 2. It does not seem to work for scooping, if you try to push a fish into the catcher it will phase through the stairs and end up under the boat, the best way I found to use this was for luring piranhas as they will swim up the stairs instead having to be pushed like the passive fish. It works after a fashion just not exactly as shown, though that may be the result of some update or another as it has been 6 months since this video was published. Thank you for the design.

Ye, I'm aware that I made a mistake on the foundation count. It does work for scooping, you just have to be gentle and let the fish do the work. You can't scoop them if they are swimming away but can if they are facing you, it's kinda weird but you get used to it.

Very nice! I usually just use a tent though. Slap the tent down on a Coel and place the basket in the entrance partially sticking out, then close the tent. Then trap the fish. I get Coel easy like that. Probably not a good idea for Piranhas though, haven't tried that lol

Arkpoc is always laggy; making this trap harder to use. Anytime you try to make small fine adjustments while driving the boat (to stay on the fish), you rubber band backwards, which loses the fish. It’s for this reason, I prefer the nooblet’s mega piranha method. Should you be on a less laggy server, this is perfect for getting those 1.5x fish for your perfect tame shadow mane. Genius Probably still prefer my method of dropping a tent on them then trapping, not sure if that works on official though? Got a couple of cryo fridges full of x2. O and bigger all trapped on Ab between where the river drops through the hole in the cave and where spinos start spawning, easy fishing

Thanks. If you are specifically after 2.0+ that's fair enough. I think this is better suited to getting lots of fish quickly without using cryos. Not sure if tents work on official, I'll have to try that.

Thought I was the only genius to come up with the tent idea. I meant to send it to nooblets after his first video on it. Works great imo. My base location has at least 1-2 high quality fish spawn right below it, all in one spot, that's relatively shallow. Kill the bad ones, tent the good ones and the next time you load back into base there's a fresh spawn. Let me know if you're interested in coordinates, but I'm sure there's plenty of similar spots

Or… or you can just use a cage to place over fish and lay fish trap beside the cage, and pick up the trap with the fish and your done. In PVP you don’t always have the time to build something like this. I’ve use the method I mentioned for a while now.

Hello there i love ur thinking off doing something to help catch fish!! I also have another ideia for catch fish is having a cage, honey and fish basket. Just place the cage near fish u want, then send the honey into the trap close the gate and the fish will try to catch the honey but they can’t and stay froze outside the cage just put the basket near the fish and done!! But ur way is better to catch fish in rockwell garden bc off the carniverous dinos witch is very good thinking but i have a question? How do u put railing in stair like u did in raft bc in console i tryed to do that but with no success?

Thanks. Once you've got the raft built I would argue that there is no quicker way to catch fish. Especially considering the fish basket pre-initializes, meaning there's no waiting around. Railings on stairs does work on console.
