A truly iconic Australian rock band there's not been any since that could rival them

The Easybeats were exciting and inventive with some great songs that should have brought them more notoriety early on. Early in 1965 the Seekers had kicked the door open to success in North America for Australian talent and left many of us speculating about what other wonderful surprises lay in store from Downunder. Well it turns out that Australia was its own crucible of creativity and musical innovation and by the 80s would become a dominant player with heaps of great bands influencing music worldwide. The early Divinyls were strongly influenced by this band and did a marvelous cover of ''I'll Make You Happy''. I agree with a KZbin friend who once suggested that ''Wedding Ring'' would have been well suited to their style with its punkish energy long before anyone knew what punk was. The Easybeats were ahead of the curve. When I listen to ''Sahara Rock'' by Divinyls I can hear a very strong connection to ''Wedding Ring'' ....both great songs! jtk🍁

@Warren552011 Thanks a bunch for the suggestion, Warren. I do enjoy exploring the prehistory of Divinyls. Damn, Richard looks quite a bit like David Crosby and Mark appears so respectable in his white slacks but that remarkable musicianship is there in spades. In an interview he talked about sitting in for an ailing member when Dragon was recording ''April Sun in Cuba'' so he was certainly in demand as a session player and a great piece of music that it is as well. Got to hand it to them Kiwis! There's a wonderful live performance of ''Going Out of My Head'' by Chrissy's cousin Little Patty on KZbin. I think the similarity with Chrissy in some ways is palpable but maybe that's just my perception. Likewise, I hear something of Patty in songs like ''Good Die Young'' where Chrissy demonstrates that beautifully rich vocal timbre that she sometimes hides....the same way she approached ''Tell Me It's Not True'' as Mrs. Johnstone in Blood Brothers. I'm not sure about ''Stompie Wompie'' but Patty was cute as a little button when she performed it. Divinyls Expo 88 performance has been posted in its entirety and it's a good one. I particularly enjoyed Warren McClean's contribution. He's one hell of a drummer. Take care

Do you know where i can find that book. I am looking for it everywhere.. thanks for your time. ❤❤❤🎉🎉. P s. I love the easybeats music and. Every thing on stevie wrights solo music... I'm also looking for any books on them about their lives story's... here in the usa we don't have any thing on them any where.. from what I've been able to find out about stevie wright life story is a very sad one.. no one that i that I know of has been treated like him. They don't say anything bad about Jimie henderx or Jim Morrison or Janis Joplin or brain Jones of the stones for their heroin addict. They never even tried to get help. But when stevie was trying to get help it just made it worse. From what I've been able to find out is that after his treatment of more drugs and electronic shock treatment's it left him with some brain damage and he was never the same.. he had to jump out of a window to get away from the treatment center. That left him with a broken ankle that he had surgery for and got a staff infection, he almost died a few times.. he was a diabetic and didn't know it. His life was a very sad one..when he was able to get clean of his drug addiction his supplier all found him and there it started all.over again.. I'm surprised that stevie was able to make it as long as he did. If you could call the life he.lived serving..... it makes me feel sad to hear his music but also happy to know that he was happy at times when he was able to do his music. And his real fans stayed with him and supported him even when the times got hard.

Wrong song title for a start, it's a live performance starting half way through with more fan screams than music... Just saying 😛
@mj.l4 жыл бұрын
it’s not a live performance - it’s them miming to the record (which is drowned out by screams)
@Tanzadog13 жыл бұрын
@@mj.l which was normal back then - live performance (not lip synching) on those tv music shows didn't really happen until the 1980s when artists started to push back

@@mrbubble185 It was a three year old comment. Check out other film clips of them. It's great for record's sake having these videos, it wa a comment I intended for those who hadn't heard of them before.

@@mickybaus6848 OK. I fixed the title so people know "Wedding Ring" doesn't start right away. I included all the hoopla at the beginning just to show people that the band wasn't just "Friday On My Mind". It was a phenomenon.
