The Echelon - A Minecraft Timelapse

This is probably the most time-consuming build I've made to date and I'm really happy with how it turned out. If you decide to get the build through my Patreon or KZbin membership, take some time and explore the building thoroughly. There're many hidden rooms and passageways. There's so much to love about this build; It's both huge and detailed (inside and out!), and all done without help from mods like worldedit. I'm sure all the identical towers and windows got repetitive to build over and over again, but the fact that it's all hand-made just adds a kind of quality feeling to the build.

Can't wait to see a tutorial on this. It's gorgeous! I'm addicted to watching your tutorials. I've had them on loop, listening when I can't watch. Every time i glance over, I marvel at how much is done and how easy you make it sound! When i get enough materials gathered (I play survival on Switch), I'd love to build one of your designs. If this is a tutorials by then, I'd prefer this, but I'm also debating between Sanctum and Mausoleum lol or maybe the Dragon Palace?obviously I've got a lot of materials to gather with so much inspiration. I love how much life is in your builds.

this piece was just beautiful. as soon as you swapped the alternating iron bars for fences and created those long slender lines like leaded windows, i literally went "woooooow" in my head. it just pulled everything in to a perfect cohesive and expressive form. stunning... 😮🥵 plus all the other amazing details.

Several buildings with a melange of styles and materials joined by quadranges, gardens, ponds. Could be a really cool showcase!

Another beautiful build and video! I really like the floor pattern, wall shape and camera angle at 5:26 It's like in many great buildings where the most interesting part can only be seen when you go out of your way to see it, in this case to the ceiling :D

Magnificent Build as always. The scale and detail is rly outstanding and fascinating. Im currently building Loreweavers Keep in Survival and oh boy do i need a lot of resources 😂. I LOVE that shot at 2:26, from the inside, you building in a very satisfying circular pattern. Omg i adore the floor patterns!!! And you always have those little stair blocks at the front doors, to not let the water in (like a drainage system, idk how to describe it). This build is so Survival-friendly, too! The block palette you chose is relatively easy to obtain in Survival. Also i swear you keep getting better and better at interiors, they look cozier and cozier with each build! OMG you're doing the village too?? YESSSSSS i love the tiny house builds, those are one of my favorite things to build in this game Over all this is so so so heckin cool, The Echelon is a mix of like a Parthenon style at the base, and a more Gothic style as you go up. And maybe even some Orthodox Christian vibes at the very very top?

Hey Dasha! Thank you so much! So glad you appreciate all those details. It is a mix of different styles. The silhouette is vaguely inspired by the Santa Maria della Salute in Venice, but quite different in most aspects. The levels inside (hence Echelon) are inspired by Frauenkirche in Dresden, but mostly conceptually not the execution. But other than that, most of it wasn't drawn from any specific building. The lower parts are mostly neo classical, a lot of baroque parts obviously and a bit of gothic also (it always seems to sneak into my builds, lol), as you spotted. 🙂

@@SixWings Thank you for mentioning the different architecture styles, i'll try my best to remember which is which. I am a very casual enjoyer of architecture, i'm not really educated on it. So i'm kinda learning it through your builds :) Both Frauenkirche and Santa Maria della Salute are absolutely gorgeous, i'm happy you're able to draw inspiration from them, but not recreate them 1 by 1. It's always nice to see your personal touch, and some recurring patterns - the main dome and the windows gave me strong Sanctum vibes

I absolutely adore the fact that you actually use flying buttresses, Gothic arches, ribbed vaults and gorgeous apses. Do you study the blueprints of the old Catholic cathedrals? I have a few on file, like the Notre Dame Basilica and St. Peters - the prints are fascinating in the architectural detail the old masters built with. Thank you so much! I love that you noticed that. I actually have to force myself to use more blocks. I'm very partial to using few materials so I've tried to experiment more, but ultimately I tend to be more conservative when it comes to block palettes.

Thanks! I use Complementary Shaders and the settings are pretty much default. I increased the block light intensity to 0.60, I believe. I did some color grading in post though. I can try and see if I can color grade it in the shaders, to match the video. That might be interesting.
