CR920XP Vs Sig P365 X-Macro Comp Vs Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro Comp, who is the winner? We take a deep dive into who makes the best slimline compact gun on the market and find out which one shoots the best! Each one of these pistols either has a compensator or ported barrel from the factory and will make for one heck of a great EDC pistol.
The CR920XP has a 3.7 in barrel and the longest one, while also having the only real compensator which can be removed. It has a 15 round capacity and each pistol has an optics cut, slide serrations, night sights, two magazines included and decent triggers. No pistol has a great trigger but they are all easily able to be shot well.
I won't answer which pistol shoots the best, you will need to watch to see that but we test triggers, shootability, function and finally we test how a comped pistol performs with a shorter barrel and muzzle velocity using our Garmin X1 chronograph. All of these pistols are great carry guns and you cannot go wrong, but let us help you determine who makes the best comped carry gun!
For the record, we did not test the shield carry comp due to unavailability, size difference (12 round capacity, much shorter grip) and it would be better compared to a Sig Spectre Comp or Shadow Systems CR920P.

@NickGDZ well to offer some insight I think the fuse shoots more like a full size gun than the tacops macro but don’t be fooled by those who say it shoots just like a full size gun, because it doesn’t. It’s softer recoiling due to a longer slide and better grip textures than the macro tacops. Between the two I would recommend the fuse.

I own a Hellcat Pro that is off getting a Comp and porting job on it. I can't wait to get it back and try it out. I just built a X-Macro with the Icarus Precision frame and FDEZ slide. It has a comp and is ported as well. I don't currently own any Shadow Systems pistols but my son does. He has an MR920 with a SS comp we installed and it definitely makes a big difference. I have a 43X but it is pretty much stock with no modifications other than fiber optic sights and a red dot. I may need to start saving for a CR920XP. Thanks for the great video, very informative.

Great video, as always sir. I own and have shot all 3 of these pistols, and agree with just about everything you said. No matter how much I want to love the Hellcat Pro Comp, it is noticeably snappier and harder to shoot than the rest. Just built the Radian 365 on a Macro frame however, and can say it's very close to the Shadow Systems, if not better as far as how soft/fast it tracks back on target. I've got the hellcat pro comp with over a thousand rounds through it and I still havent adjusted to the recoil. Even changed out that heavy stock trigger (omg felt like i had to snap my fingers for it to pull) to an apex trigger. Your video confirmed its faults! I may trade it in for something else. I own a dozen SS and they have been pretty solid.a few minor issues but nothing big. I do love the X Macro as well. I don’t care for the Hellcat much but it’s a great gun.

I switched from Xmacro to the Legion love both, I just shoot the heavier better. I did pick up a Canik MC9 and the trigger is fantastic. Only complaint is it drops off on bottom of grip, little annoying.My wife loves her 43X. Great video gonna have to get my hands on a shadow systems. Thank you

Awesome video and review i also have the shadow systems cr920p war poet and i threw my Glock 43x grip on it but changed out the internals to the shadow systems because something wasn’t running right with my 43x mos, i run the shield arms mags with their mag release and premium mag well and the grip is stippled i love that setup so much have about 400 rounds through it so far zero issues once i get to around 1000 ill probably start carrying it, interestingly enough my main carry pistol is a hellcat pro with a mcarbo trigger, and their firing pin, my dad has the hellcat pro comp and we tested them side by side the other day and honestly were both surprised they felt almost identical with being able to shoot mine easier from the better trigger upgrade, sorry for the rant but great review you got a sub from me

Bunch of ss haters in here. I have 4. All ran with absolutely no issues. Ftf’s and fte’s for the first 3 mags on my cr920p. Keep in mind i sent it back to ss for blemishes BEFORE i shot it. (It had pretty significant blems and tooling marks in various places on the slide finish and comp. Bought it new. Wanted it new. I want it to be my damage) ss replaced everything. And DID NOT test fire it before sending it back. It was extremely tight tolerances as expected but broke right in.

I can only personally comment on the hellcat pro comp and the cr920xp. I do not own the xmacro (though I've shot it). I can say between the hellcat comp and the Shadow Systems, I MUCH prefer the Shadow Systems. I'll not be selling the hellcat, but the CR920XP is my main carry now.

Based off my experience with a number of PSA firearms, they are not a brand nor gun I’m going to trust my life to. Additionally, the C-1 has been ok for us but it hasn’t been reliable enough to put it up against these. Ask yourself, how much is your life worth, then reevaluate every single time you buy a gun for self defense.

I hate to say it, but as someone who built the radian macro in hopes it would shoot softer and flatter than my CR920XP, it does not. We may still make a video tho!

Yeah. I LOVED my CR920P bc it was comically soft shooting, and I put a nice 43X trigger in it to help make it better than just a Glock trigger with a different trigger shoe. But unlike you, I’ve seen some issues with Shadow Sys, especially with triggers getting weird after 1-2K rounds…so I kinda see it as a trade off: I’m getting a gun that shoots almost as soft, but I think it may have better long term durability and it can get smaller (though both can get bigger with the 17/18rd mags). That said, if reports continue to be good, I can see going to the CR920XP as I loved my CR920P (and had no issues after a very sketchy 120-140rd breakin period-where i found the OEM Glock RSA was lighter and fixed all issues). Keep up the good work-always like a really good and trustworthy review channel.

For those that don’t know, the xmacro in this video is not the normal. It’s the comp version. The normal one you can get a longer barrel. Comp came out first, blame sig, before the Tacops and the normal versions.

No, it’s because guns have different twist rates or chamber specs. You have literally nothing to base such a claim.

Results of chrono we have. Barrel is the longest and yet it delivers medicore speed results. What more you need?

You are missing the point… you have no basis for saying the barrel is not made well. Your basis for that is because it has a longer barrel and only about few FPS faster than the Sig and slower than the HC Pro Comp. Chamber specs and lock up, play a big factor into this. Additionally you would also need to gather data across multiple ammos and weight, types of projectiles and finally ensure every single case spec is the same across all the guns to then see what differences you see. A sample size of one ammo, bullet, grain is a rough estimate at best for FPS and in which regardless we showed how the HC performed considerable better than the other two.

People keep asking this and I’ll say this, they are two different categories of guns. They are considerably different on paper and when you hold or shoot them. One is slim, the other is not. In addition dimensionally, the Carry Comp is larger in every way. Additionally you cannot co witness red dots with it, it has the same capacity and marginally shoots softer (due to size). If I was going to pick one to carry, I’m carrying the Shadow Systems. But that is 100 percent due to personal preference and how I feel shooting it. I’m an experienced shooter. I’ve own and daily carry the Macro. Owned and sold the Pro (with Monsoon Tactical port) and, like you, found it to have more snap. Never chrono’d mine, but was surprised by Hellcats’ ~40ft higher velocity. What are thoughts on whether some of that snap is due to ~5% higher velocity?

I think it’s due to the recoil spring and higher chamber pressure, like a tighter chamber. No doubt it’s likely a contributing factor. I honestly couldn’t believe it was that much higher!

The Macro barrel is 3.1 vs Pro’s 3.7 and that’s definitely the main contributor to the higher FPS (the barrel is a hair over half an inch longer). Not saying it’s the only contributor, but the most impactful.

@vitogrimes6006 the pro comp does not have a 3.7 inch worth of rifling. Yes it’s 3.7 inches total but they chunk ported it and bored out the end by about 3/4”. In addition that also wouldn’t explain why the SS and Sig have nearly identical muzzle velocity.

Man that new cr920xp looks nice. But I just can't get myself to buy or trust another shadow systems product. I had one of the orginal "butt barrel" cr920s and it had a laundry list of issues. It wouldn't cycle reliably even after 500+rounds and multiple trips to ss. Barrel and trigger were out of spec. The striker was hitting the safety plunger and then my recoil spring assembly broke. After the 3 trip back and it still not functioning properly. I demanded a refund and they did nothing about it. Hard to stand behind a company after having an experience like that.

Thing that gets me the most with SS. Before they were made, anyone that reviewed handguns and had any type of malfunctions within the first few hundred rounds they would all instantly say " i wouldn't trust my life to that firearm. And or, any gun that needs a break in period is BS" But whenever SS sends these to the people who shill for them, those people have malfunctions and say "ahh its so good im gonna carry it. Nothing beats the SS" 😂☠️

I do carry the CR920XP and am very effective with it. People can carry whatever they want, just don’t suck with it. The difference with SS is they make it a public thing to say there is a break in vs hiding it in the fine print. The macro is a great pistol as well. The reality is each individual should shoot or choose what they shoot best or feel most comfortable with.

@@HuntFishShootChannel shield plus has a 4" barrel. It's larger then the Sig X macro and Hellcat pro comp. I have both and my Shield plus is more accurate and less then those two. The shadow systems pistol is more like a Glock 19 clone. I disagree with you. Shield Plus is easily the best pistol. Only negative is that theirs no rail. That will come in the m&p 3.0 line up.

More accurate is likely subjective and you are just more accurate with that pistol. Keep that in mind. 98 percent of shooters can’t shoot their handgun to its true accuracy potential without a ransom rest. Which this shows on the video, I shot all three of these pistols nearly the same and when I zero their red dots they all shoot comparable groups. But the Shield pistols have a 10 round capacity overall grip length and then add magazines with sleeves to make it more than the standard. They may come out it a light rail on the “3.0” but why is it not on there now? That’s my concern. We may do the shield carry comp vs some others but it won’t be these pistols unless Smith and Wesson makes a native 15 round capacity grip Shield.

No I can’t because i actually shoot Sig pistols extremely well. I like them a lot for how they shoot. The shadow returns to zero or is much more predictable than the others so it allows me to shoot faster!

Like was it an actual failure of the gun or was it ammo related. its import to document those things and I like to keep track of instances with all the brands because people ask. The issue is the same stories often times get regurgitated across the web whereas the actual issue is so isolated, it not a legit going issue. Hence why it’s important to track across all platforms and sources. Our goal is to provide reputable and factual data with opinions or questions asked. That’s all. I have the xmacro with the 4" barrel and no comp. Not sure why anyone would buy the comp. Mine shoots great with very manageable recoil and was almost $200 cheaper than the comp version. Plus the comp is quite a bit louder.

I told you in the video I’m carrying the CR920XP. But with a TLR7a Sub. With that being said I am going to be testing it against a macro build with the ramjet to see which I like more. The 18 round mags are not out yet but they are on their way.

curious how the Hellcat pro with a threaded barrel and the comp of the hellcat rdp would do. reason the Hellcat pro has more velocity is much less effective port/ comp thus also making it snappier. I have owned a Hellcat pro( not ported) and the G43x mos . The HC pro seemed snappier and hated the square shaped grip as it was not comfortable shooting. Bought it for the 15 rd capacity over th G43x. Well went back to the G43x . trigger was a bit better than the HC pro out of the box. Just can't stand the factory HC pro trigger. just too heavy. I had an original hellcat that I thought had better trigger even though Springfield advertising touts the newer models as better( don't believe all advertising! ) I did install and overwatch precision trigger bar and shoe in my G43x mos. Well when the Shadow systems CR920X came out I jumped on it right away! Finally the nice feel of the glock with a better trigger and reliable 15 rd mags. now my carry gun! I can run a plate rack almost as well as my full sized guns. the thing also about the SS CR920XP is that is a true comp not a ported barrel design like the others. so easier to be more effective as it was designed to be not just holes machined into a barrel. I love my CR920X. really would like to try a XP some time!

Did you listen to the video? I explain this in the first few minutes. But the short answer, we don’t have one and couldn’t find one and in addition, it is a 10 round grip length gun. To say the cr920xp isn’t over $900 isn’t really true $889 plus taxes is pushing it over $900 and if you have to order it’s possible you’ll also be looking at shipping and ffl fee which could push it to almost $1000 that being said totally worth it for carry specially since Shadow Systems will replace it if it is taken in a self defense case

One, no it shouldn’t due to the fact it’s not a factory pistol. You have to build that to make such a set up. Secondly, it will get its own video with the CRXP. You can’t do a comparison of factory comped pistols vs each other then throw in some performance build. That would be like taking stock Cummins truck to a truck pull against a G’d out tractor pulling truck.
