As much as I admire Ram Guha and his love for the test game, he seems obstinate in his refusal to give T20 its due credit. T20 has kept test matches alive (commerically) and also made them more precious to the new generation. T20 has also brought about more attacking batting to test matches. As Amit Varma counseled Guha on his podcast, it is useful to think of T20 an an entirely different format of the game (and not a condensed version of ODI or a super condensed version of a test match). If he were to watch a season of IPL with a critical eye, I'd like to think that he would come to appreciate the intense tactical play and improvisation involved in T20.

I have a contrarian point to Ram Guha's on T20 Cricket (and agree with yours). One has to agree that Pant, Sundar, etc are products of the T20 cricket. I would even argue that that these guys wouldn't have been able to chase such a total without the 20-20 cricket background. Each form of the game is helping the other.
