The Effects of Extreme Heat on Koi Skin Quality

In the heatwave last year on the 20th of july, the garden was at 40.1C pond was at 25.4C Though I do heat to 24C in summer anyway the heater hadn't been on for a few days. the pond is covered with a pergola and polycarb roof. but I think an uninsulated pond floor helps too.

And that was a crazy summer. It’s so tough to get these optimal temperatures during a normal British summer without heat.

Here in Italy from June to September never below 27, and that is with shade cloth over most of the pond to keep it going above 29-30°

It’s almost as much of a problem as the cold British summers.
