Would love for the JFC to release these lectures as Campbell delivered them with minimal editing and Q/A sessions included.

Yes. They’re really tight with his stuff aren’t they? 5 minutes here. 5 minutes there.

I think they post this as a means to entice people to want to buy the lectures. while the youtube channel is promoting his legacy, I would imagine he wanted his work to continue to support his family, and so it makes sense that if the information was valuable in the 1980s it would have value today. There's something to be said for the way people value content nowadays vs back when this was recorded. We regard content as ephemeral but also almost worthless at the same time.

@@technoserf_digital The money i spent on Campbell`s work has been minor compared to the vast wisdom being shared. Done seminars by Tony Robbins as well as others its in the several hundreds as well as thousands of dollars .

Ive been bitching about this for years. Very irritating that ppl are holding his work hostage to get money. All Watts, mckenna, ram das are on KZbin, its time for Campbell

It’s unfortunate how they only want to release his lectures with heavy price tags. They are the usual organization that has taken the exceptional essence of a man and his message and made it into a money making machine. They have essentially become the dragon he used to speak about.

Truth lies somewhere in between...each philosophy works in certain context .under certain conditions . Indians have certain exuberance of spirit..that gushes forth to express itself...in the form of art, music, architecture, movies, relationships etc. Our philosophy then centres around how we channelize that. We each have something to learn from each other...after colonization, globalization .. our collective Psyche has changed so much that we cannot compartmentalize attitudes into neat boxes ..

It is not the ego we need to oppose, but to clear it of the 5 false egos.
@integrallens60452 жыл бұрын
You can think of the ego as a participant in the process of moving from non-dualistic Tao, to the dualistic layer of reality. Ego is what assigns the dualistic characteristics to things in real time. The ego likes or dislikes, repels or attracts, etc. So it is participating in the differentiation of opposites on the dualistic plane where the ego resides.
@wildman99222 жыл бұрын
Without ego we would not be led to a spiritual life. Ego drives the car. No ego no self to enjoy the clarity. Who is it that says there is no ego?
@integrallens60452 жыл бұрын
@@wildman9922 Exactly, this is why you can never fully be rid of your ego. Better yet the ego is what gets integrated back into the collective consciousness. Without an ego we would have nowhere to begin.
@101......2 жыл бұрын
I think the Ego isn't the problem here but the blindness of "Egocentrism" which disrupts the Individual's way to connect with others and the world. The first step of understanding Self-nature is the recognition and acknowledgement of the Ego.

I was literally thinking something similar. The insight he delivers so eloquently in 4 minutes is astonishing. In our times it would take 20 hour long episodes and still not say anything remotely as useful..

He means that they never went in for 100% total obedience to higher authorities (gods, teachers, whatever) especially when they are acting horribly or unjustly. He usually contrasts the Biblical story of Job vs. the Greek story of Prometheus to illustrate this point.

2:28 He is wrong about Hinduism because he was seeing a remains of Indian temples post islamic invasions which brought about destruction and burning of temples & universities. Do you think Japan and China came up with Buddhism? Zen Buddhism is a idea born out of Mahayana Buddhism and Zen is rooted in 'Dhyana' of Hinduism which became Chan in Chinese.
