I like the idea that Trilby puts on a slightly imperfect, but still very convincing, upper crust or posh accent. but then when he's flustered or caught off guard, he's got a strong northern accent.
@SuperHothead14
@SuperHothead14 6 жыл бұрын
ultimateninjaboi now here is the question. Does he still keep the fake one in the later game trilby's notes? Or does he let his northern accent out since he is no longer a gentlemen thief?

Kris my point was twofold. 1. He's "supposed" to be in disguise. Not using his tribly voice could help with that. And 2. You don't think he would consciously work on using his original voice once he leaves the gentleman thief life?

I find it kinda funny that while Gabe appreciates most of the games but has minor gripes for all of them, with the older ones Yahtzee was all "This is shit, SAY IT'S SHIT DAMN YOU", while on the "newer" games he goes "That part's good, SAY IT'S GOOD DAMN YOU".

+Grabehn42 Yahtzee gave commentary on a text LP of the Chzo games, and went on to say that he vies the games as flawed and imperfect, but wouldn't have gotten the insight to be where he is if he never made them. At the same time he says he wishes he'd made them later in his career so they'd be better in his eyes. Catch 22.

5 days is my favourite in the series even though I think that 7 days had the best horror concept. I think it has so much to do with how strong the opening is. Cat burglar enters an empty home not only to find it it not empty but that the dude is god damn terrified, unreasonably so. And then the music hits. So Good.

Yahtzee's ragging on how text-heavy the games are, but frankly, I think it's fine -- you don't play adventure games for twitch shooting segments, and he's a thoroughly competent writer. Plus, 6 and 7 Days still scare the absolute shit out of me.

You can find the commentary and the interview on youtube. If you click "Interview" you are actually treated to a bizarre little skit between the female character and Yahtzee or rather, Yahtzee's soul channeled through a dog. Dog Yahtzee then proceeds to say he was inspired to make this game when he was watching hentai and eventually turns his female interviewer into a female dog in heat. Seriously, look it up.

I was up late finishing an essay on Le Corbusier, and I had a break and put the telly on - couldn't believe what I saw. They do have their issues, like the text parser in Notes, but the Chzo Mythos series are probably my favourite adventure games ever, mostly for a bang-up job of making a gripping setting and satisfactory plot, and partially because it speaks to what can be achieved with a well focused one-man team. Not an artistic or programming savant, but someone well enough trained in all aspects to make the whole package come together really well. Something sufficiently within reach of someone like myself to make me think, "I could actually do something like that if I committed to it." It's surprisingly inspirational like that.

You can do whatever atrocities suit you, and it's okay so long as you're a gentleman about it. X'D The fire having "always been lit recently" supports Gabe's theory about time standing still in here, and that being why no one needs to eat. I'm making that my headcanon and excusing you for that plot hole, Yahtzee. :) And hey, I spilled one drop of water on the apparent Achilles's heel of my mousepad and now my mouse won't stop fucking up, I can relate your pain, Gabe. :)

Since Yahtzee is nit-picking so much I can hopefully be forgiven for doing the same. There is no such thing as a late 18th century musket rifle that can be described as standard issue for the British army. The first one might call standard issue, the Baker rifle, was 1801 issue at the earliest and relatively rare even amongst the Light Infantry units. AFAIK the only rifle the British fielded in quantity in the late 18th century would be the Ferguson rifle (1776) but that stretches standard issue beyond breaking point. Presumably Yahtzee had a brain fart and used 18th century to talk about 1800s? An easily made mistake.

I tried making a game, ONCE. Whispers always came out as blurry, non-comprehensible, this sounds like they are whispering kill them, do it, for her, something like that. Fuck me, when I first heard that I freaked instantly, I totally didn't expect it.

There are hereditary knighthoods. They're called baronetcies, and baronets are not technically peers, but they are titled, and tend to be rich. Sir Ranulph Fiennes, 3rd Bt., is an example(famous explorer and relative of Ralph Fiennes, the actor).

I'd love to see this remade with more the design style we see in "Art of Theft" as the design is REALLY engaging there and I loved Trilby absolutely immediately in that. I also wish Simone didn't die in later games :/

I just noticed, Yahtzee and Gabe are kind of like Ornstein and Smough- a slender but tall and more well - known guy working with a huge guy that is apparently fat but upon closer inspection (I.e under Smough's armour) they're actually muscular as hell. Plus Smough was the bigger dickhead according to Dark Souls lore and Yahtzee's said that he has Gabe so that there's someone to say even more horrible things than himself.

With the Sir thing, he could have been a war hero at a young age, knighted for his actions but possibily discharged later with PTSD. That would explain why the police instantly went to murder and suicide, maybe stating that his PTSD caused him to murder his wife and then kill himself.

Yes! I love the Chzo Mythos. I'm not just saying that as fan of Yahtzee's Work, I'm saying it as a serious fan of Lovecraftian fiction. I know Yahtzee's a busy man but I would seriously love it if someday he continued working on the Chzo Mythos or at least allowed a fanbase to expand the Universe on his behalf. There's some serious potential in it.

I remember playing the Chzo Mythos games in 2007, just before 6 Days came out. This first game I remembered being pretty bad, but the other ones were legitimately scary. I look forward for the Ego Review of those. The graphics are much better than I recall, and I have vivid memories of that kitchen and backyard.
