Skunkie Is Right!! I have been listening to an EL34/7025 amp, based on her 6SQ7 circuit, for a month now and it sounds wonderful!! I am using a pair of NOS Electro Harmonix EL34EH’s with a new production EH 7025 driver and the Edcor 5K iron. They all mate well with my vintage mid-70’s AVID 3-way sealed speakers. Plenty of clean power for my personal listening levels. The 3D imaging is excellent. I listen to vinyl thru an EAR834 clone and also digital via a home brew R2R ladder DAC. Congratulations Stephe on your accomplishments and I cannot thank you enough for re-igniting the tube bug in me. I wish you all the best!!

Great ..........wishing you all succes and pleasure realising your project . Indeed a good 5751 is a win win..........even in a vintage MC Intosh it sounds very good. You have a winning team with this amp...........few tubes , simple circuit ( lesser components ; less degradation and less loss of the musicalsugnal ) and resulting in great sound , the price of the Edcores makes it a steal to build and sell.. PS : It could be interesting to measure the resistance of the windings of the OPT as well as the symmetry of both PP windings and compare these on both OPT's . Kind regards

Very good Steph I hope that your project and enterprise is very successful! I may very well sometime be interested myself, although not at the moment. Maybe you would consider posting physical measurements with and without tubes, weight, sensitivity recommendations related to speakers and types, any disclaimers you feel appropriate, etc. It seems to me this would only benefit potential customers and yourself in the clarification of that information. Thank you for considering and good luck with you and your early adopters!

@Skunkie Nice to hear you are ready for production, but I am definitely going the DIY route. Glad to hear the Edcors won out with that pair of amps! Well, I was hoping that would be the case since I already have them and don't intend to buy another set of output transformers. As it is I still have to buy the power transformer. I know I have some EH, JJ, and Svetlana EL34's kicking around. Not sure if I have 5751 tubes for the input tube, but I certainly have quite a few 12AX7's laying around. I have a set of Cornwalls, vintage 1984, original drivers and crossovers. They are extremely efficient, but a little picky about what sounds good driving them. Have you powered any Klipsch with the EL34 amp?
@SkunkieDesignsElectronics10 ай бұрын
Not yet, I have a pair of Chorus II speakers but honestly my room is too small for them to sound good. You'd probably want to do something like triode strap the EL34's and run no feedback with those speakers?
@herbieschwartz924610 ай бұрын
My listening room is only 20' x 25 ' which is probably why the amps driving those Cornwalls is critical. Hard to believe, but I use an old set of ADCOM pre and power amps (250 W per channel) and those sound very good, but they are getting tired and show signs of needing recap (left channel getting weak). I'm an engineer, but not electrical engineer so I only understand the basics of electrical voodoo. A friend (electrical technician) has measured the wattage of normal and MAX LOUD listening levels and those go between 0.5W to 5W max (at 5W I need to straighten all the pictures on the walls afterwards). Experimenting with the location of the Chorus II, you might find them really good, but they are not like the old-school Klipsch stuff. Anyway, shopping for a new power source for those old speakers and it sounds like you care, which is increasingly rare now days.
@adamphillips126310 ай бұрын
