What makes this scene the most terrifying is if you're playing as a Qunari warrior. This heavy armored absolute fucking behemoth of a man gets yanked up by Corypheus with one arm completely off his feet and dangled like a toddler.

I'll be the first to admit I was actually really disappointed when I found out who the Elder One was (even though I suspected him all along). But now, after playing a bit more, watching some videos and actually taking the time to think about it ... it was really well handled. He's a really well written villain, one you enjoy to oppose and understand - I can't help to think of him as a much better Voldemort (no idea why). I really like him now. Guess first impressions can be very deceiving. :P And now I'm waiting for someone to upload an ending where he wins (I'm not letting him on my first playthrough). Apparently no one on KZbin is ruthless enough for it, though ... yet.

I really loved this scene when I saw it. My inquisitor is just a small Dalish elf mage. She never asked for any of it, she never asked for the anchor. Now, as she literally faces Corypheus, who says the epic line that the thrones are empty, her life just gets thrown into a spiraling turmoil. Holy crap do I love this game and all its glory.

What I love about Dragon age is that its villains are never who they are lead to be. In origins, you kind of decide is the villain is Loghain. In 2, you think it's the Aroshock but it's the Knight Commander. Now in inquisition you think the elder one is but it's really Solas that is behind it all.

The Elder One is an Epic Villain! When he showed up in Haven it gave me chills! Villains are supposed to make you feel fearful hopelessness in a sense all will be lost, like this. This theme represents his character well when you hear it you know somethings about to go down!

People complain that this guy was way too easy to defeat...and you know, he kinda was. BUT there is quite a lot of symbolism involved here. First of all, you took away everything from him. He only has himself left to fight with. That the fight turned out so easy is because he is a WOULD-BE God, only a pretender. If he would be an actual God, the fight would be much harder. But this is meant to show that he is just a madman wanting to be a God, so of course the fight will be easier than expected.

But he is still an ancient magister who has the Blight running through him. That isn't just so crazy person. that is someone who has every means to be an epic fight. The final boss fight should be one that is challenging, one that lives up to the epic scope that the game gives us.

He flew around, cast a few spells, but ultimately wasn't very exciting. His boss fight in Legacy was more interesting. No, it really doesn't. Story does not excuse poor gameplay. Steps could have been taken to make the fight more interesting. So he is weakened. Okay. How about Corypheus uses a spell to cut you off from your companions so it is just a one-to-one fight? Or how about he uses the orb that he still had to do some big attack that you have to dodge? The point is, even if for story reasons Corypheus was weakened, they still could have made a fight that was epic. Story and gameplay matching are fine. But remember, this is a game. I love the lore and I love the story. But story or no, the fight was bad, and it could have been better.

(Spoilers) When you had to choose between Hawke or the Warden, I literally just stared at my inquisitors face for at least ten minutes because it kept looping this song, and it is just so EPIC. This is my favorite out of all the songs, plus the love scene one, but I made the heartbreaking mistake of falling for Solas and it brings on too many feels.

+Slyhades I guess I just see things differently. Yeah, Solas is the one who set the events of the game in motion, but it wasn't like Corypheus was his puppet. Solas gave him the orb thinking he would die when he unlocked it but he didn't. He was a super powerful, super pissed off, and virtually immortal darkspawn that had the power to rip open the Veil. The fact that Solas accidentally caused everything doesn't take anything away from Corypheus. He's still a badass. And they were connected by the Anchor, by the way. Wasn't a pre-existing connection, but still a connection. I have to agree with you about the final battle though. It was rather...disappointing.

He's one of the seven Tevinter Magisters that entered the Black City and supposedly became the first Darkspawn. I love how nobody understands the lore and says, "He's just the lame boss from DA2 DLC". LOL, he's actually a major part of what Origins set up. So far, we've seen two of the seven Magisters (The Architect and Corypheus). Hopefully, Dragon Age 4 will introduce more of them... Given that the game seems to be taking place in Tevinter, I hope we get to see the other five.

How DA:I should have ended: The Inquisitor defeats Corypheus. As the Breach is again closed the Inquisitor walks away slowly. Then the Inquisitor hears a faint voice. "Enchantment!" It becomes louder and louder. Until finally it becomes so loud it tears another hole in the sky. A second breach opens but only one thing falls out of the sky. It lands in front of the Inquisitor and as the Inquisitor pulls out his/her weapons he hears a shout "Enchantment!" The Inquisitor is instantly murdered and vaporized to ash. Stepping out of the dust, Sandal appears. "Enchantment!" Skyhold is obliterated and so is the Inquisition. (Spoilers) - Flemeth is falling into Solas' arms. Sandal appears out of the Eluvian and before Solas can react he hears one last final word "Enchantment!" He is instantly vaporized. The souls of the old god and the elven spirits are absorbed by Sandal.

Am I the only one who think that Corypheus wasn't that cool villain. I mean, he wasn't terrible, far from it. But the game just didn't make him so dangerous that you would expect. The title "Elder One" doesn't even fit for him. It would have been better if at the end of the game it would have been revealed that Corypheus was merely a puppet to some higher power. The Elder one should have been for example Flemeth or that Fear Demon. I'mean the Fear Demon was perfect in the game. He was ancient and powerful and commanded all the demons. And the idea that Corypheus needed the ancor from herald to free his master, would have made more sense. Every time Corypheus was in the game he got his ass kicked by our hero. He was never a real threat to our Herald, never got upper hand in any situation. And his final boss fight was way too easy. But this is just my opinion. The game was still very well done and this theme is great. But it feels that these villains are just going downhill from the first game.

What mostly bogged down Corypheus is how unlucky he was all through the game. Even from the start, in his ritual which was interrupted and in which the Herald "acquired" the Mark, it was pure bad luck on Corypheus... and well, he IS an Elder One. He's one of the original Tevinter magisters who invaded the Golden City and unleashed the Blight. Can't get much "elder" than that in Dragon Age lore.

I think the simple fact may be that the game isn't about Corypheus. That he is to some degree intentionally made to be not that cool, not have 'Elder One' fit him (he is NOT the god he thinks he should be), and he is beyond his reach even though he thinks otherwise. Over time, the story moves from Chantry+Elder One, to Elves+Corypheus, and we find that Cory's days are numbered. He is not the Elder One. He is a pretender. He needs to be put down. But now, who will stop the Inquisition?

I wish they had hurled us into the past and we had seen the dawn of the Darkspawn, where we have to choose between stopping the ritual or letting it happen, since the Blights shaped the course of history. Without them Andraste could not have toppled the Imperium, Drakon could not have United the people of Thedas so easily under his banner, and King Calenhad would not have likely been able to unite Ferelden. You and Dorian and try to seal the Eluvian mirrors Corypheus and the others used to accompany the ritual, succeeding in sealing them inside the Fade permanently, or so you think. Yeah I went somewhere like 90% completion, and all the story quests after Haven were a cakewalk. So maxing out definitely isn't necessary.

@@bigfatcarp93 Unfortunately in several cases the fetch quests BLOCK the areas needed in order to continue the main plot, a big huge mistake in the gameplay, not to mention the vastity of empty space of the " open world". The incoming chapter has been already rebooted from scratch because they're making the same cockups, way to go EA. Way to go. -_-

When I learned Corypheus was the Elder One I was actually surprised not because I thought I killed him in DA2 I knew he was alive and escaped into Larius I just wasn't expecting him so soon or that he would be the Elder One I thought the Elder One was the dragon they kept showing but he kinda makes sense as the villain someone jealous of the powers of heaven arrogant enough to deny the Maker and ambitious enough to want to be a god himself.

+Jaden Delgobbo The secret to his "Effective Immortality" is that he used the Red Lyrium Dragon as a Phylactery (An achor for a portion of one's soul to remain intact and can gather the rest of the soul that was defeated in battle to recoup the person back to their whole self) and we killed his dragon, destroying his only KNOWN phylactery before killing him. That said, there's no telling how many phylacteries he has and if he's half as smart as the lore puts him out to be, Im sure he's not quite out of the picture yet.

SPOILERS AHEAD, DA:I AND TRESPASSER -------------- I cannot, for the love of the Maker, get my head around the fact that Solas most certainly could have killed Corypheus and all his minions easily. I mean, he's Fen'harel ffs, the bloody Dread Wolf; he turns people into stone only using his mind! Why in hell would he not use these powers to - I dunno, KILL THE PERSON WHO SOUGHT TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD? If Corypheus would have succeeded - it would make destroying the world much, much more difficult, would it not? And I'm not even gonna get started on the whole orb-thing! He wanted his orb back so badly, and sure I understand why and all, but why didn't he just approach Corypheus then turn him into a stone statue and get his goddamn orb!? Is it because he couldn't let anyone know who he really was? Or because he couldn't access those powers yet? Or what? ! It doesn't add up. Or am I missing something?

+Filippa Breisand I'm pretty sure Solas explains that in the DLC. It goes something like this: Solas had just woken up from a who-knows-how-long slumber, he was too weak to unlock the Orb and get his power back, so he gave it to Corypheus thinking he would die unlocking it and, absorbing his essence, he could become the god he is again. But Corypheus didn't die, and that completely threw Solas' plan off a cliff. Also, remember he only unlocks his super-god-powers after absorbing Flemeth (Mythal)'s essence after the epilogue of the main game. You know, when his eyes go all glowy.

***** Solas does have god-like powers now, but he wasn't a god in the beginning at all. I don't want to spoil anything on the DLC if you haven't played it though... I suggest looking up a gameplay or the wikia on it. It might change your mind about a lot of things! As a side note, he does absorb Flemeth's essence no matter what you do in Origins or DA2 - I suppose she's equally powerful, dark ritual or not.

Im kind of mad that main villain is one from a DLC of the worst (or less good) game in the series. I mean, when he appeared I was like, "who's that?" and then Varric and Hawke start talking about him but I couldn't remember anything from what they were saying. The point is, I wanted to get impressed, I wanted to say "Oh shit, I remember that guy!!!" like when you met Hawke, Alistair, Leliana, Morrigan, Cullen and Varric, you feel excited because they are like old friends. But now I will never feel that emotion because I decided not to play a DLC from a game that was a dissapointment comparing it to DAO. I enjoyed DA2 but was not eager to return to that world :'(

Orlando Alvarez imo due to dragon age 2 being so short i got the dlc to make the game longer then it was and however i think while corpyheus was a good fight their were other bosses in 2 hell even origins i would have preferred but eh

I personally LOVED Dragon Age II. But I think that is because I didn't really compare it with the predecessor. I just thought: We just saved the world from a dark apocalypse full of dragons and undead things. Its time for a break. I would have actually NOT liked it if Dragon Age II was about saving the entire world again. It was kind of a "breather episode" between Origins and Inquisition. But hey, the characters were great (in my opinion) ;)
