could you please do a video on maximum gross weight limits for ebikes. Manufacturers hide these in the smallprint, however the majority seem to be the same as non-electric bikes. the additional weight of an ebike (often 20 - 30 kg) is included in this gross weight, which then limits rider and accessory weight. A 100kg adult (there are alot of us out there!) may easily take the gross weight beyond the limit. Some light should be shone on this. thanks

I've had a E28 for about 3 months. I use it to get to work, 10 mile round trip with 4 or 5 steep hills which it flows up, when fully charged it feels as if you are being pushed. Biggest regret is not buying the front suspension. Biggest disappointment is rust has developed in some places which considering the cost is annoying, i have sprayed with some muc off stuff now. Also slight niggle is there is no manuel (there is a basic one online but not much use) with bike so first time ebike riders like myself have to learn through use, embarrassingly i didn't realise when charging you have to wait until the tiny red light on the charger turns to green and not when it reaches 5 full bars which far from charges it fully. Its a great bike overall.

Very interesting feedback. So if you were able to present to Estarli a feedback, the points to improve would be: - reinforce key points on the eBike that have a tendency to rust. - addition 3 step pdf of how to charge the eBike 1- plug in and see the charger go red; 2- wait until the light on the charger goes green (even if all the bars can be seen on the display; 3- unplug and enjoy!!. Could this feedback be sent to the Estarli brand so that they could make an assessement to improve their eBikes ElectroHeads? And have an even better quality product?

Thanks a lot for your channel, I love the way you are presenting. The Estarli 28 looks great but I have two concerns. My wife has a Giant with a centre shock and it makes the bike a bit unstable, noissues like that on the Estarli? Second issue is the Battery that seems to be built in, our Bikes are parked in a shed and loading a battery in freezing temperatures seems to be a bad idea. What about the maximum load the bike can carry? I bring 110 kg to the scale, would it have enough stability?

Yes, great to hear you addressing accessibility. At the beginning of lockdown I bought a Batribike Sigma folder because it was the lowest step through I could find and at the time it was British made, I don't think they are any more. The only thing wrong with it is it's heavy for me but it has survived me toppling over on it a couple of times so I guess for heavy read sturdy! 😂 It tolerated me strapping on an enormous basket to go shopping in the summer too. I can't afford to keep changing bikes but it's good to see British made light weight accessible ones becoming available. I'm also interested in cargo bikes (in my dreams) do you have any interest in those? Lovely to see everyone, great show 👍👏 Edit: btw I live in Kent too, whereabouts are you?

@Electroheads Жыл бұрын
Hi John - first of all, congrats on living in West Cornwall. I'd love to ride an e-bike along Gwithian and Godrevey beaches on a nice Summer's day! With the Estarli e28, it's probably the e-bike that is closest to riding a traditional (non-electric bike), so unless you are particularly tall or short, I think it would be well-suited to a returning rider. We are planning on doing test ride roadshows soon, but I don't think we'll make it down towards Cornwall sadly.

@@Electroheads Thanks for that. I hadn’t thought about riding a bike on the beach - or even seen anyone do that! I want to buy a bike so I can do a quick run to the shops without taking the car out (or peddling too hard) as it’s quite hilly in Falmouth. It doesn’t necessarily need to be like a non-electric bike so others are possible, I just need to know what the key decision factors are when buying. Btw you should do a bike review video on a beach in Cornwall. The ones in London are all a bit samey and not relevant for a lot of your viewers.

A question @electroheads about your double youtube channel (this one and the X2): www.youtube.com/@electroheadsX2 - I find it a little confusing to have to check on two places to look for similar content. - It's a new channel... almost 1K subscribers... but still, what is the purpose of that channel? - What are the benefits in separating your subscribers into these two branches? - Is it just more work that you end up having to manage with not that many benefits? I am huge fan that the best process is no process. So eliminating complexity is one of my favourite topics!! It's this X2 channel adding complexity to your work flow? But not helping that much on your companies mission? Kind regards mates.

I tried one of the Estarli (foldable e20 with off road tyres). It is solid and fun eBike!! My question would be: if eBikes like ADO (offering so much... carbon belt with torque sensor, hydraulic disk brakes, very light 10 year warranty frames and whopping 350Wh battery) are just about to change the rules of the game... A bit like Tesla. From time to time, a new Brand just puts on the table a brand new rule book. And throughs everyone off their game... for a while. What I don't know is if ADO is losing money per ADO air they sell? Is so, how much? No company can bleed forever... So Are prices in a few months from now going to go up? And all they want is to gain market reputation and them balance themselves out... Also good questions about the production line of Estarli could be: - Can you make a carbon belt with torque sensor cheaper to produce than a metal chain with shimano gears (which are probably quite expensive)? - Have the prices of the batteries gone down enough so that the previous acceptable 250Wh batteries are now being bumped in to 350Wh at very similar price tag? - Could the frame (which is very standard and on the heavy side) be replaced by a different one like ADO is doing? - Are disk breaks using cables just not a thing any more... Hydraulics is just much better and affordable enough? I am not British. I was born and raised in Lisbon area for more than 35 years. But I am a Huge advocate of made in UK products!! The UK Region has what it takes to compete neck to neck with German products for example. The so claimed made in Germany seal of approval. Nothing against German products!! But UK can be up there too!! So I would like very much to see Estarli transition to a sustainable future with no fear nor regreats. Like it happens in tech a lot, if you don't innovate, you become obsolete. Maybe Mycle bikes could be a good example of that... Is Estarli innovating enough to continue to sell their solid range of products! While on the pipeline, the next gen of eBikes is on the making? Drop parts on the eBike and start fresh. Clean slate!! What is the essence of an eBike? And how can you make it in a way that is profitable. But at the same time a very compelling product is delivered to the Riders!! With a high output on the production line acomplished by the simplification of the product itself. Cheerios ElectroHeads!!

Good question. I don't think there is. But my recomendation to Estarli is not to have 50 models to sell. Instead make a few very good eBike and mass produce them. Improving profitability by leveraging economics of scale. The more you produce, the more negotiation power you have. The more automation you need to implement to keep it going. The more cost efficient you get your production line. Really hard to do! But the companies that do it well, get in a really good spot. I like cars so a good example about the risk of too many models to choose from are the differences between VW and Tesla. VW has multiple brands that are pretty much the same. Different design pretty much. So they end up competing with each other for same market share. In Europe, Tesla has 2 models. They share more than 70% of their components. And the model Y is just one of the best selling cars in Europe (not just EV's). Simple range of products. Little choices. But whatever you choose, you get the best of it!! Estarli might be going into the trap of too many models. To many variation of the same eBike. But not that much improvement being driven into their core models!! I would suggest 3 types of wheels: 16'', 20'' and 28''. Done!! And make those eBike and every component used in it, the very best it can be!!

If you use Apple Maps or Google Maps you can generally get a choice of routes, either more direct on main roads or less direct on back roads. For Camden to Hammersmith you'll be able to take advantage of routes through Regents Park and Hyde Park... Marylebone has a lot of bike lanes and roads with low traffic (being inside the congestion charging zone). Unfortunately though your route will inevitably go through the borough of Kensington and Chelsea... notoriously London's least bike-friendly borough.

The ADO 20'' has already an App and you can send GPS instructions to the controller... No throttle though... Haha!! - Air pressure sensor like in the cars!! I have it on mine. (to keep the tires with perfect pressure to maximize efficiency and miles per Wh) - Some bikes have an alarm system of some sort - GPS signal to know where the bike is if stolen. (cut off button on the App to kill the power of the engine to slow down any burglar)

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but it seems this bike's pedal assist is not torque sensing? The only piece of information I can glean from estarli's pitifully information-free website says, "advanced candence", which I assume means, "advanced cadence" but nobody's bothered to proof read. The impression I get is that this company is not "manufacturing in the UK" but bolting together generic parts sourced from China -- that they didn't design -- in the UK.
@americotomas4889
@americotomas4889 Жыл бұрын
There are so many supplier from China at good quality and affordable prices, that it makes sense for estarli to buy components from there. Interesting observation about torque sensor vs cadence sensor... Advanced cadence does sound dodgy. Additional clarification about it wouldn't hurt. The design is heavily influenced by your parts supplier. So the quality of the build by itself is important!! And the bike I rode was solid!! No bolts jumping around!!

@@americotomas4889 I have no objection at all to Chinese-made parts; almost every company uses China for manufacturing. My alarm bells are more from the fact that it appears estarli hasn't designed a single component on the bikes they're selling, and their utterly useless website indicates to me that they don't know much about them either. A decent small bike company would be falling over themselves to talk about how their bikes perform, how little design touches improve the experience, and give information like frame geometry and simple stuff like how you actually recharge the thing (where's the charge port? Is the battery removable? etc). Instead it's just a bunch of what looks like stock photography with models and uselessly basic spec lists. And they don't even sell replacement battery packs! Anyway. End of rant.

@@davidf2281I hear you! In short, if the products from Estarli are as good as they claim, hit us with the boring technical stuff. I am an engineer with a huge passion for efficency and simplicity!! I would love if Electroheads could arrange a conversation with a Head of Engineering at Estarli. Going through their reasons for their approach and choices. Why metal chain and not carbon belt? Why this specific frame was chosen? Why should I even consider buying an Estarli eBike. They ride really well!! But knowing why would be great!! What are the differentiator? Should a person riding an Estarli eBike be proud to have a made in UK eBike? And as you mentioned, what exactly is made in the UK? The UK Region has a huge tradition in Engineering. Do you think the electric bike industry is missing out on a massive potential in regards to the market place ? Personally speaking I think so , here’s my take on the market place , the amount of older people be they men or women obviously not forgetting others who see themselves as who they want to be and good for them, sorry I digress , I think with electric bikes if they had more belt drives systems it would open a whole new world to people who want ease of use and don’t want derailed system and see that system as off putting , the whole idea of ease of use should be paramount, would make a good video to take electric bike on a tour of the UK , derailleur system/belt drive system, don’t forget you’re not looking for existing cyclists the premise of the video’s is to attack none cyclists to then become cyclists, yes you could say belt up and get a life but you seem to be too charming to even think thoughts as that , sorry for long email but only a little sorry , song for the email = Nine Million Bicycles = Katie Melba, have a nice day and life.

And if they get hurt, it takes longer to heal... or it doesn't heal properly at all... Agree with the idea of the carbon belts and torque sensores. To make simpler and easier to use. A UK tour sounds like fun!! And a nice suggestion already as a song too. We are all invited to particicpate in the electrification of the world. Younger or More long lived people!!

A real use case of an eBike vs PHEV car: - So I needed this morning to go to an ATM to get some cash to pay for my Wonderful 6 year old karate class. And my immediate thought was: 'I will take the car, but it's a high street. A pain to park. Where am I going to park the car?' I can do it in electric mode. PHEV's have very small batteries for a car. But it's only 1mile there and another one back. Then I had a lightbolt moment: 'Wait a minute... I have an eBike. I don't need to park the car. Problem solved.' The weather is nice today here is zone 4 East of London. So off I went. Nice and easy. Got the cash... 15min later I am back!! With a car it would take me longer. More expensive because I might need to pay for parking!! And not so rewarding nor pleasant!! eBikes Rule!! Haha!! So are eBikes part of the solution towards a sustainable future? I think they are!!

It sounds like a paid review rather than an honest review. Not a word about one of the most essential points of electric bikes: charging. The fact that the battery is not detachable means that you have to take a bike inside every night for charging. This is not an issue for the foldable bikes since the design is to fold and take them inside but on e28 .... ? keep in mind that if you live in a small flat, then your bike might be charged in the living room while your friends are coming for dinner.

Of the boardman HYB 8.9e a guy purchased one a couple of years back, and now it needed a New Actuator for the electric motor, and Halfords could no longer supply the part for that particular year model.
