The world needs more electric bikes like this one

Who says e-bikes can't have a classic styling?
Despite my love for innovative new tech and sleek innovative design, when it comes to bikes, nothing can quite beat the love I have for my standard single-speed bike. I just haven't come across an electric bike that evokes the same classic feeling as my trusty analogue commuter bike has... until now!!
Here are my thoughts on this Toblerone-looking e-bike that on first glance, wouldn't even look electric.

Nice looking bike, A commute bike really does need mudguards and also a rack I think. You won't need to replace the battery in 5 years, my E-bike is 6 years old and still going strong. Most Lithium Ion batteries are good for 1000 charge discharge cycles which on my bike equates to 40k miles. True there is also age related degradation but I can't see much difference in the range I get now and what I got when it was new. Keep the battery in the house, away from frost and if you are going to store it for long periods keep it at 70% charge and it will last a long, long time.

I should add that that 1000 is down to 80% of the original capacity, so even when it gets there a bike that had 40 miles average range will still have 32 miles range.

Good piece. Coming from someone who has ridden bikes for over 60 years, almost all of them had racks and fenders - and I live in North America where that is not common. My dream ebike would be fast and light - but it would also have a rack. The new Specialized Creo 2 is very close to that dream, with provisions for racks and fenders. I currently own a Trek e-bike - heavy, but it has fenders, rack and great range. My favourite bike is my Specialized Ruby - no fenders, I make do with a seat mounted rear bag with frame for the lack of a rack (works most of the time).

Wow, another great review from Electroheads. Got me thinking that the E-Bike rental shop idea is super cool, perhaps if you get any spare time(perhaps 2300 or so), you could put together a boiler plate E-thing rental business, i.e. computer with software to run business, do paper work,... Then sell that as well. Would make it a lot easier for someone with cash and the desire to run such a business... Oh, and a fun idea, make an electric fan that runs off a power bank or e-thing battery. Would be cool to use fabric for the blades so you could style up your fan... For super coolness, you could have the fan run backwards and capture energy on a windy day to charge up the power banks or e-thing battery... Need a shorthand for E-thing, how about E-*, he he

Doing my bit - made a 2kw ebike 8 years ago, also ride an e-scooter and added 4 500Wh batteries to it for long rides >100km range and scrapped 2 cars. Saved enough now to consider getting a proper EV, but still have little need for one in a city, especially as I'm fully maxed with emobility options! Gotta get more people using ebikes/scooters - they are just awesome.

I have two electric bikes and they’re great. However coming out of one of the wettest winters ever I can’t help but think that electric biking in the UK is only a Summer time thing. Living in rural North Wales I know that there isn’t the charging network to support electric car use.

In Western Europe a bicycle is useless as a daily commuter if it comes without mudguards. Should be standard.

If you’re afraid of attracting the ire of KZbin censors, the “when I wake up in the morning she screams “Ride me Jack” could land you in a lot more pickles 🥒 😅 On the bike… yeah, not my favourite either. You’ve already shown us much nicer hardware for that money. Perhaps you could influence the manufacturer by using the VanMoof example, great bike, too expensive, too few sold 💀. Also, especially in London, you can’t talk budget without including security. A good lock is only one that takes very long to beat, but none of them are unbeatable so you will need to lock up your 2-wheel pride&joy or carry it to your third floor apartment… at 17-25kg …

Wow :) This ugly, cheap kick-stand and seven speed Shimano from eighties which is on 200 EU bikes. You won't ride it in the rain because your ... is going to became wet instantly. No fenders. No chain guard. It is so cheep - no cargo racks, no lights. And harsh aluminum frame/fork with some two centuries old springs under saddle. No step through frame is really not for everyone. Overall ,cheap, outdated by all means ebike . Decathlon has better, all equipped, non expensive ebikes. Fair price for this one is 800 EU maximum.

Does it ever occur to you e-zealots that some people actually prefer to use their cars, rather than ride a bike, electric or not. I am a keen road cyclist, but I use my bike purely for leisure/fitness purposes. I would never dream of using it for any utility purposes. My car is for such things. Why is it so many people today are obsessed with telling other people what they SHOULD be doing? Leave them alone. By the way, only an idiot would buy an electric car.
