The Electric Eraser - how to use it and what it is amazing at

i need this, i always struggle with erasing because sometimes i just need to erase a little bit, but moving the eraser back and forth to actually erase it takes off much more than i want it to. this would be really useful

I just bought one on eBay and when it arrived I put my kneaded eraser away. The only thing my electric eraser does not do well is when you only want to lighten the value a little. It tends to be an all or nothing product. I love it.

I believe a kneaded eraser still has its use, as well as this electric one. Just depends what you need it for. I needed eraser is great for dabbing off graphite and stuff

Kneaded eraser when I just wanna get rid a big area like my sketch but still able to see it so I can still redraw it with ink, A 4B eraser for erasing dark areas, a retractable eraser same as the kneaded eraser but with small areas it can also be an alternative to electric erasers but you need a lot of effort and lastly electric eraser for making details easily Hard to use but with a little bit of practice can help

It actually spins because it's a motor. The vibration you speak of is a sign that you need to adjust the tip. Try pulling out the tip assembly, and rotate it a quarter turn. If it is still vibrating, repeat. You really want to avoid it from vibrating because this indicates that the rubber assembly is off balance. It's up to the user to adjust the tip. Vibration means the tip is wobbling. You will know when you hit the sweet stop, less vibration and the motor will sound and spin faster.

I have this kind of rubber/eraser already and am told you can trim the edges down to give it a point as its a little tricky to rub out fine lines e.g the whiskers on a tiger that I had drawn. It took me some time to learn how to use the eraser roll on its side to get a fine line. I then realised that I needed to draw a fine line in just to the edge of the erased line to depict a whisker. So its a good tool but not so easy to use, plus you need to hold the On button all the time whilst erasing/rubbing out. I have given this a 'like' because 1), I love Mr Otter videos (especially one on mixing watercolours - have watched that so many times!) and 2) the foot is awesome! I have got to try to draw that. They both erase so differently. The electric eraser works well for erasing highlights but it leaves a line of contrast, the kneaded eraser will leave a smoother highlight but wont lift off as much as the electric one. I hope that helps! I prefer gum erasers

It might not be what you're looking for, but I sometimes use cheap erasable colored pencils to lightly sketch stuff out before filling everything in with alcohol markers or regular colored pencils
