I'm neurotypical and I hate making eye contact, I can't imagine forcing anyone to make eye contact.

I have autism and I hate making eye contact but I do it anyway and I gotten a lot better at it. They're not forcing them to make eye contact they're just trying to get to make eye contact because when you have to talk to people you had to make eye contact.

Eye contact is part of communication for most people. It doesn't have to be sustained, just a second at a time. You can look at a person's nose, mouth or chin instead of their eyes which might make it easier to concentrate on what they're saying & also on you're saying too.
