The e4 in bdsp is way smarter than the last e4. For example if they see an opportunity to kill your mon they wont heal and they know when ur pokemon can outspeed them or not.

I really was dissapointed with how easy bdsp was but when I reached elite 4 I felt the challenge I craved for but still it was manageable enough for me then when I faced Cynthia I was totally unprepared she was on whole different league I was literally laughing out loud seeing all the shinanigans she was upto, I had a blast which I didn't had in pokemon games for a long time.... Haha

You used a Nuzlocke Team? Pfffft... I used a Post Game Team and somehow won. Demetrius the Lucario DeepFreeze the Glaceon Taikezy the Mightyena Mocha Cookie the Furret Ellie Rose the Arcanine Xefiro the Lanturn I highly recommend you try it, raising a second team is very fun. I went in at a flat Level 78 and came out at Levels 79 (Taikezy, Mocha Cookie, Ellie Rose & Xefiro) and 80 (Demetrius and DeepFreeze). I still struggled against Flint, Lucian and Cynthia, but, won. In fact, I wasn't EXPECTING to win at all. I made a second team work.

The rematches in this are no joke, but why does he discourage the affections effect on his Pokemon? Again they really do help in really tough battles and makes your Pokemon do work hard for you, it really helps me a lot in my playthrough and it takes the whole using ones Pokemon as tools a bit less.
