For non-Singaporeans, these commandos are essentially conscripted and not full-time soldiers. They serve their time and train to meet what is required of them. In my opinion, i believe that this dedication is worthy of respect. Your full-time special forces either serve out of patriotic/personal interest, or need the job to bring the money home. Next time, try asking them to give up 2 years of their lives and serve in the army.

these haters who write hateful comments most probably never go out under the sun, keng during ns( or better still haven't even pass bmt ) when got a bit of flu complain to mummy and then play COD MW2 and claim to know alot abt the commandos. Its mono-intake, after ur NS check up, u might get a letter for an interview for CDO vocation, if u pass it then u might receive a letter that u got in, else u cannot get in unless u sign on. Good Luck!

oh so u guys normally do like 2 to 3 sets of power sprints then you rest in between right? but how long normally do you rest before proceeding to anoter set of power sprint/running? Also for pull ups you do 3 reps of 8 sets/3 reps of 6 sets rite ? thx

@ranger0504 well , in other countries , joining the army is not compulsory , and they have more human rights than we do , if a man does not wish to go to the army in the US, the army would not force him in any way, thats why singapore's forces are quite comparable to other countries.

Come on people. Malaysian have more bragging rights for their army because they have more experience in real life combats than us. Like the real 'Black Hawk Down' combat. It is not just the US army that went in and save their own kind. Malaysian and Pakistan armies were involved too. Until Singapore sent in their best to serve in the real frontline firefights like in Afghanistan and make a front-page stories about it, no one will look up on our army.

bro. i'm not trying to be a wet blanket but they don't exactly select cdo thru physcial fitness only. but i can tell you that there is a basic requirement you HAVE to fulfill no matter what: a clean family background. including your aunts' and uncles' family. plus, malays are the minority in 1 cdo battalion. the ratio is like 1:50 at best?

If ur studying in singapore, u must score well for ur a levels and must show exellant determination and than u can go for ur commando
