Love your work, and your city looks absolutely awesome. One thing I have noticed though in my game is that when villagers lay out their gardens, they do it in rectangles radiating from the house and boundaries. When your house is in the corner of the lot, you’re likely only getting three or maybe four different crops there. When the house is in the middle, you will get at least 8 crop patches (not always 8+ different crops because they sometimes seem to plant two lots of the same thing, but often it’s 8 and on very large lots it may even be more). So the only way I’ve been able to get more apiaries is to centre the house on the lot, pretty much - I like the look when they have about 1/3rd of the space in front, 2/3rds at the back but it varies depending on the size of the lot and the slope etc. I think the choice of what is grown is fairly random but some crops are more likely to be sewn and I wish hives were one of them. I’d really love a dedicated apiary building, I’d pit one near every orchard and one near the sunflowers/flax fields too. And of course a meadery so it’s one less thing to import. Maybe a chandler too, to make candles from the beeswax…

@@Jatzette thank you so much! It is interesting what you said about the village house layout. I will play around with it. The reason why I place it in the front corners is because the pathways are much shorter in the yard, not giving any obstruction. So I might be getting less variety in foods, but I think the yield is more.dedicated apiaries with meadaries would be awesome and would make sense at this stage of the game development. If candles were there, it would also be nice to see the developer add like a hapiness meter so that candles, soap, glass etc. Can affect that. And if hapiness runs to low they might decide to leave. It would create an interesting challenge

@ yeah, the closer the house door is to the gate the less path there will be, which is why I tend towards placing homes about 1/3rd of the way back on the block rather than halfway. But I have to be honest that aesthetically it can look better the way you were doing it, or with more variety. Patmos makes really pretty towns with housing in interesting variations too, much prettier than my towns. Also I did some maths on my beehives and about 15.5% of my homes have hives, the average number of hives is 5, the lowest number of hives is 3 (and since I calculated I had one house spawn with a single hive), the maximum number is 12 (only one house, but two others have 10). I know in past towns I’ve had up to 22 hives on a single lot - a larger than average one, but not maximum size. I also have one house where you can count 8 separate vegetable plots, and 7 of them all contain the exact same crop - something tufty like carrots or horseradish, I can’t tell what it is. So the randomness of planting is weird.

The developers should add sugar production to the game. And the habitants could also pickle the fruits and vegetables they grow. The player could also do this. In the future, may be...

@@noelstetson3316 I am not sure if they had sugar production in 18th century Ukraine. I know the dev tries to make it very historically accurate. Although the pickled fruit and veg must have definately have been a thing. Would like to see that!

@@axefield Well, there were no potatoes in these territories at the beginning of the eighteenth century either. Potatoes began to appear there only in the second half of the eighteenth century. But only in the first half of the nineteenth century did potatoes become widespread

@noelstetson3316 that is true, it especially really only became a thing internationally with WW 1 if I am not mistaken

The planting of potatoes was first documented in 1805 in the Kharkiv province, where the game takes place. However, the Cossacks had come across it much earlier, as a trophy or a commodity. It was just not popular. So its cultivation in 1726 is not as far removed from reality as it seems. Beet sugar was produced in Western Europe only in the early 19th century. Ukraine became the center of this industry because of its favorable soil within a few decades, but it is still a long way off. So its addition can only be considered if the game finally declares a gameplay transition from the early 18th century to the 19th. Like in the Cossacks strategy, where the era is revealed gradually if you've played it. For example, a new start would be added not in 1726 with better technology. However, this is questionable from a gameplay point of view at the moment. After all, there is honey, sugar will become just another two-level production link to nowhere. And it will take a lot of time to implement. The game has much more urgent areas of development.

You are a fan of various theories))) Maybe it would be better to ask the developers on Twitter

There are not many developers and they are very busy. However, they are very active on Twitter, it is unlikely that they will respond to all mentions, but they definitely look at them from time to time.
