Trivia: In the ending song, the main characters are in middle-high school uniforms because Kamakura is a popular destination for school trips. Trivia 2: The object that appears at the beginning of the song is Tokiyuki's gravestone.

So the tomb of Tokiyuki is the gateway, and we are watching the dead past figures enjoying something like a modern-day school trip.

Yeah, forget the three episode rule. This one had me hooked in this first showing. It is quirky and fun, also very dark and violent. Beautiful animation. Can't wait for more

This story is based on a true story that happened about 260 years before the TV drama "Shogun." Because it is an anime, it is somewhat exaggerated and contains original parts, but it is a famous story that is also found in textbooks. The characters are also found in textbooks. The protagonist's father, Takatoki, was very weak and in poor health, and was not well suited to politics, so politics were often handled by relatives on his mother's side. That is why it is thought that the anime portrayed it the way it did.

It was Takauji Ashikaga who was written on my elementary and junior high school history test. The comic book rendition of the intro is an homage to the ``Japanese History Series,'' a book for learning Japanese history. You can always find it in waiting rooms at hospitals or barbershops or etc.

The plot is basically the Usurping of the Hojo Clan from Kamakura by Ashikaga Takauji, and Hojo Tokiyuki's mission to win it back and avenge his family. It's loosely based on real history that happens in 1333 to 1353. The book that's being used as the source is "The Taiheiki: A Chronicle of Medieval Japan". Don't go to wikipedia and spoil yourself. XD (I've first watched you from your Jojo Openings and endings reaction. glad to see you still healthy)

The successors of the Hojo clan never became Shogun. Instead, they held the title of "Shikken," the regent of the Kamakura Shogunate. For a long time, the Emperor was merely a puppet of the Shogun. In turn, the Shogun was a puppet of the Hojo clan's Shikken. Even a Shikken like Tokiyuki's father was manipulated by his own servants. The megalomaniacal Emperor Go-Daigo grew tired of this puppet show and aspired to be a true ruler. The Emperor's ambition influenced Takauji, who then awakened the plans for the Muromachi Shogunate. This was the trigger for a chaotic tragedy.

The samurais weren’t playing with organs, those were strings of coins, they used Chinese coins for transactions during the Kamakura period, there is a hole in the middle, and you string them up in bundles of a thousand for large transactions

Please tolerate the comedy scenes. If we were to faithfully depict the Japan of this era as it was, it would be a little too stimulating for today's audience. If we don't use comedy to dilute the stimulation, the story will become nothing but a gruesome tale. Even the battle scenes in the latter part of the film are still very modest. The period from the Kamakura to Muromachi eras was a harsh period, which in Japanese historical terminology is called "tribe extinction," in which powerful samurai clans such as Miura, Hiki, and Kajiwara were easily destroyed.
