It changed during hurrems reign if you look at it closely. For example look at the episode where she dies and she fingers the ring and looks at it knowing her time is up. The ring has changed. Though I have to say that the last/third incarnation of the ring while still noticeably different is closer looking to the original than the second one for sure.
