The co-writer of "Blessed" is Jerry Peters who was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, but was reared in Slidell, Louisiana. At the age of 14, Jerry moved to Los Angeles, California, where he attended Susan Miller Dorsey High School. Upon graduating he then attended Los Angeles City College as an art major, while continuing to take music classes. He then transferred to the California Institute of Arts but left school just short of getting his degree to enter the music business.
During his college years, Peters met Anita Poree and her brother Greg Poree. They started writing songs together. This collaboration between Jerry and Anita Poree would become the R&B pop classic "Going in Circles", which was performed by The Friends of Distinction. This became Peters' first gold record. Around this time Peters became an in-demand composer, songwriter, arranger, and producer.
In 1972, Peters recorded his only album on Mercury Records, Blueprint for Discovery. Also in 1972 Peters began his association with The Sylvers family. Working on all three of their Pride/MGM albums, producing The Sylvers II. He produced both Foster Sylvers albums.
Peters began producing albums by jazz pianist Gene Harris in 1975. A total of four were released by Blue Note Records. For the rest of the 1970s and well into the 1980s, Peters wrote songs for, produced projects and performed on recordings with some of the very best acts in the music business such as Earth, Wind & Fire, Aretha Franklin, Quincy Jones, Marvin Gaye, Natalie Cole, The Jacksons, Diana Ross, Deniece Williams, Gladys Knight, Al Green, Lionel Richie and the ladies we honor today as the Emotions.
Ace Adams of the New York Daily News stated "This album "rejoice" displays the growing talent of these rising stars. "This LP offers no messages, pretensions or sexual innuendos but simple romantic themes by four sisters, Wanda, Sheila, Pamela and Jeanette Hutchinson. Their tight harmonies and polished chords make them logical successors to the original Supremes. Producer Maurice White of Earth, Wind and Fire (with whom the girls have toured) provides lush arrangements and joins lead singer Wanda in a smoothly worked Key to My Heart." Larry Rohter of the Washington Post wrote "As much because of their material as the(ir) vocal style, the Emotions have been able to inject some life and excitement into a soul format that badly needed it."

I love this family so much till I call them my own family (Aunts and cousins)😀. So sad that Aunt Pamela has passed away but the love surrounding her on this video is what she needed. Its always a delight to hear them sing all the oldies but goodies. They are keeping this music alive as they should. Keep it up fam. 👭👭👭👭👪

I met Wanda and her beautiful daughter in Vallejo Ca. In 2010. Her and her daughter were so kind! I almost cried trying to tell her how much the Emotions meant to me. I went blank🤦🏾‍♀️ Couldn’t even tell her what my favorite song was😅 The best female group ever! The Emotions!

This is a beautiful video. It's truly inspiring to see Pamela surrounded by her loving family. And being included with performing one of my favorite Emotions songs. Though she has passed away, I have faith that she "Blessed".
