As the other reply said, most came with them from their homes. That alone has pretty much helped them gain influence. Some of these momos are more than just caretakers: they're their reliable confidantes, their most trusted allies. They have access to places these nobles couldn't (commoner areas) so they most likely hear gossip and information. They do the dirty work for them in Langhua, Jia, Gao, and Ling's cases especially) and wouldn't simply rat their masters out. So yeah it's no wonder their influence is something.
