Yaas more 40k content Luetin commenting while watching (technical heresy I know) but so happy to watch some more.I've calmed my 40k revival down somewhat as I remembered I love the lore and the universe more than the minitures as such but god I love the universe. I dunno maybe one day I'll get my finger out and do my beloved space wolves army but I'm good with the lore for now although I feel the need to buy some books.Do you have any recomendations for a good read? I'm a returning 90's fan from around the necromunda and tyranid introduction era and I just love that grim horrible future of mankind that 40k is.

I always think about things like that but it actually makes sense. When we don't understand something we'll claim it as magic or the will of god but when we see a person create an electric current in their hand we can see or manifest a flame and not get burned and then we see how they did it it takes away the fantasy and disillusioned belief we have and roots us in reality which the emperor always wanted. See that which is before you is not a god but a manifestation of humanity's spirit and imaginings made real crafted by their own hand to resemble the divinity you once thought your masters now commanded by your fellow man

Seriously, I don’t own a single miniature, I don’t know how to play, I just love the lore, and-far and away-you do the best lore work. Your videos are engaging, they illuminate the lore, you speculate on subtext in such intriguing ways, and you structured this video in particular very well. The framing with the history of early emperor with the priest was excellent. I welcome any videos you do, whatever the length, but I seriously love these long form dives into lore. I feel like people are missing half of the message of the video, which is that while the Emperor is seemingly hypocritical and deeply flawed, it also seems as if (within the W40K universe) he might also be right on many of the fundamentals of his beliefs. That's what makes this element of the lore so interesting: it isn't cut-and-dry on either side of the discussion.

I think the difference from The Emperor's perspective was that religion claimed all of its acts were in service to something which couldn't be proven was valid, whereas everything he did was to further a practical goal. To "cleanse" earth so as to launch a unified effort to the galaxy. To make the best soldier in order to unify a galaxy to present the unified effort to the universe, etc. In The Emperor's mind, it was justified not because the acts he perpetrated were different in inherent nature, but in that they were to an actual ends that was actually happening. That was what made it fundamentally different. It's ironic that it was all partially to combat gods who would come to play a very real part in unmaking his practical Empirium.

The Emperor was just a self-satisfied zealot who sowed the seeds of his own doom by refusing to acknowledge or allow knowledge of anything that disagreed with him. Which is the point -- the Emperor deludes himself into believing he's done away with the very thing he forces upon humanity. As Durkheim argued, religion is an inherent part of humanity and cannot be done away with without doing away with humanity.

There's a better reason for the Emperor to leave out info about Chaos: he himself, is a benevolent chaos god. This would make it extremely difficult to explain why humanity should trust only him, and not other demons / gods. This would also explain his real hatred for religion: he's disgusted with how the demons have abused it. The problem with the 'forbidden fruit' argument, is its kind of like having a child near a rattle snake. If they don't know what it is, they might try to pet it. Therefore, it makes more sense to warn them. However, if its a rattle snake, warning a human child of another rattle snake, things get a bit complicated.

I've always found it a bit suspicious that the emperor conveniently decided to reveal himself to humanity during the age of strife, right when the forces of chaos began directly interacting with the material dimension. He didn't feel compelled to help out when 40k skynet was nearly successful in exterminating humanity? I think he's very similar to the other "gods." Just as Slanesh was born of the eldar's depravity, the emperor was born out of humanity's unbreakable hope, and determination. The personification of the human will.

The only reason why The Emperor failed mankind was because he couldn’t relate to them. Humans engaged in religion and faith so much so because if they had no answers they still had something to believe in while the Emperor with all his God-like power and knowledge never knew an obstacle he couldn’t overcome and a question he could never answer. That was the reason why the Emperor could not understand the human need to believe in something or have faith because the whole point of having faith or believing in a religion is that it has no explanation and doesn’t need a reason, all you need is faith.

I have to say that Warhammer 40k lore has something so amazing in it that i cant really describe it. The lore does not pet you in the back with a happy stories to relief some stress and all that but rather it lets out this raw, brutal and terrifying vibe about pretty much everything and that in every corner of this universe there is a danger lingering! If the proper people with enough respect to the Warhammer franchise were to be found we could possibly have some breath taking games and movies. And I've never been convinced the Emperor knew every event that will occur, for example, he may well have seen depictions of the events of the Horus Hearsay but only seen the influence of the Chaos Gods, so preventing those events becomes nigh on impossible.

You know while people might think that this was a story of a godly man who sought to ironically not be a god among men and eventually becoming exactly that, but the story of how mankind is ultimately stubborn. He knew the real truth, that chaos would corrupt and eat his people, and yet he still defied it. This is how humanity has always worked, it is prevalent in our own history. If he had chosen to just accept "fate", humanity would not have had a chance to at least have the freedom to be it's own doom. The path he chose was narrow, and while he and many may think he failed, I think the opposite. The Emperor succeeded because Chaos was beat back and hasn't completely corrupted his people, while a lot have died and humanity is now being humanity, at least it can remain as humanity rather than something else entirely, darkness. Humanity in the 40k universe still has a chance to shine, while we can look at it and see it as grim, if you consider the circumstances and the other potential fate for humanity, they are still the light. Light can often be interpreted as a rebellion against darkness, light being life and darkness being death.

SUPER late to the party, but plot twist, what if the emperor was ALWAYS an agent of Chaos. What if he keeps humanity always teetering on the edge of destruction because that's what feeds chaos? Before the times of strife, he didn't need to do anything because the Eldar were feeding chaos plenty. He didn't stop the AI wars from happening despite his foresight, because he wanted it to happen. He launched the crusade to feed the immaterium more fear and suffering. He glassed an entire planet of people who worshipped him and destroyed the faith of an entire legion publicly because he knew this would galvanize the forces of chaos already formenting in their ranks. The Horus heresy led to a permanent galaxy-wide age of pure conflict, suffering, and misery for the darkest chaos forces to feed on infinitely. Funny the believer in reason and knowledge never sat the Primarchs down and patiently imparted all he knew of Chaos and therefore how to avoid its temptations. It is worth remembering that from the Emperor’s POV a lot of what happens is justifiable. I always had a soft spot for WH 40k, but only recently decided to fill holes in my knowledge. I knew the basics, the Horus heresy, Space Marines, The Immortal Emperor, etc. Your videos are amazing for this purpose, finally I can see patterns and reasons for things to happen, and now I love this universe even more! Now, this particular part of the lore has a strong resemblance to the Emperor Letho II from Dune series. He on purpose suppressed human kind and acted as a tyrant, so his acts would instill stubborn wish for humankind to expand, which happened eventually. Could the Immortal Emperor do something similar? Maybe in repressing religion he actually paved the way for a new religion to appear with his martyrdom as a central piece?

Don't worry about the voice, you sound fine brother. I love this concept in 40k. The Emperor, in order to lead humanity had to deceive and use humanity, causing an enormous deal of suffering, all on the gamble that peace might be attained at some point and the fighting can stop. His attributes are human attributes writ large - his failings and flaws are human failings and flaws, writ large.
