Sanguinius secretly killed any Blood Angels that had given into the thirst, and was caught by Horus putting down one such Angel. I guess his shame over his legion's flaw carried through to the BA initiation rites, keeping the truth hidden. Turning into Space Viking Werewolves, however, that's a harder thing to keep under your metal hat.

Dante and Grimnar : the old chads of the Imperium !! The Blood Angels suffer from an immense evil that consumes them. But as Gabriel Seth or Astorath say, it is part of their identity and even gives them strength. Astartes suffering from Black Rage are immensely stronger than a normal Space Marine. Additionally, Sanguinius' genes make his descendants some of the most powerful psykers in the Imperium within the Adeptus Astartes. It also grants them higher longevity than other chapters (although this is hard to verify due to Black Rage) 🤣 But with Dante appointed Regent of the Imperium Nihilus by Guilliman, and respected by the Lion, I'm glad to see that the devotion of the Blood Angels is recognized by the primarchs!

I think that the “flaws” of the various chapters were all intended for various reasons. The Thousand Sons were easily the most powerful legion (on an individual scale). They had a built-in failsafe. Use too much sorcery: turn into a spawn. Plus it keeps their numbers low, keeping them in check. The Space Wolves, the executioners, morph into feral beasts under combat stress. This allows them to literally go berserk when their backs are against the wall. Blood Angels have the thirst which, again, makes them exceptionally good shock troops. The Raven Guard have the ability to shadow slip which, while not a “flaw”, is definitely a mutation as a latent psyker ability. I think that there are probably other, similar traits in other legions.

Because vampires and werewolves are cool, so GW decided they'd give them comparable "issues" to the mythos. I however feel that they missed an opportunity with not making craving brains and flesh a prominent issues, especially among one of the fallen legions.

Rho when it comes to the utra marines. I think that at times there is a flaw in the ultra marines and it has been unnoticed due to it being scicological and behaveral (or it is the writing of GW that give me that impreshion) The same as the Luna wolves. Were as the Luna Wolves we blindly obedent. I think that given how Gilliman said and told his officers the Codex was never ment to be hard law but to be taken as a sejestive guide not the this "the Codex says this and the codex that ". The way that they blindly hang on to it and are unable to think past it is a flaw.

Two of my favourite chapters. But still have to say the Blood Angels have the way worst negative gene defect. Space Wolf, can in the recruitment phase be changed to a mindless Wulfen, and perhaps with age turn into one, but few do, and they somehow are accepted anyway. In general, Space Wolves have a lot of diverse problems with their recruitment process. In the Ragnar novels, he meets Space Wolves which have rare gene defects, one has grown so big, they have needed to make a special armour for him, another one have a rather not-SW like behaviour and mindset. And there are other examples of the diversity of the Space Wolves gene seed, which can't in any term, be said to effect them as much negatively, as the Blood Angels are effected by theirs.

SW recuits were mostly adults by the time they proved their might in battle then get slain and swiped away by the rune priests. Most of them would still have the mentality of their old selves tempered by the training with the Wolves. BA recuits were hopeful young men managed to get to the monastery of the BA. They had little exp before the transformation. Unlike the Wolves, they were essentially reborn into perfect beings, shredding the old sickly mortal selves behind. That is a huge change but more to come with the training under the Angels.

@@huntermad5668 Yes, that's a really important difference in those two chapters. Still some of the space wolves in the various books, are described to somehow minor or major gene-"variations", some of them like giant size is acceptable, others are just more or less ignored.

@@huntermad5668 They are not that old. The ages the wolves recuit from ranges from as early as 12 to as late as 25. Prime age range for most men. And if you look at history most men that had that life style didn't live past 55 that much. Now I will say they can recuit older men as when are made aware of in The Thirteenth Wolf. It even says in it: "To old, To old to benefit from Russ's gene seed, To old for the transformation...." "We prove them wrong."

@@hornkev I mean the Life in the Wolves would be the continuation of their life before for most of them. While they could recuit teens, it is likely most of candidates would be at least 17+ so young adult. The young teens would need to be really prodigies to perform acts of bravery required. Ba'al candidates have way less life experience compare to them. Honestly, i don't think The priests care all that much about age of the recuits. Their priority is the deeds of the candidates. With great enough deeds, even the white hair veterans would be chosen.

@@aguspuig6615 curse is more to the blood angels that was passed on with the death of Sanguinius where as the wulfen curse was part of the canis helix so I guess technically not a curse but part genetic makeup

these are the legions of the two special primarchs you consult the menducia to understand that Sanguinius & Russ are two primarchs representing pure elements. Is no coincidence they both bestow the boons they do on sons. 'However as one of only two Primarchs representing pure elements (the other being the Hanged Man) he is more likely to transcend what in others would be fatal flaws.'

Weren't the organ-related flaws in the space marines' gene seed fixed with the creation of the primaris? I remember that being mentioned in the Gathering Storm. How did the Raven Guard react to the primaris not being all pale and having pitch black eyes?

I believe the Primaris marines no longer have the common Space Marine loyalist founding chapter gene-seed flaws. Meaning new Primaris Fists have all functional gene-seed organs and are no longer missing anything. With that said, gene-seed quirks have been expressed in Primaris and Salamanders coal colored skin, glowing read eyes/sclera, Raven Guard pale skin, liquid black eyes/sclera (but gene-seed organ flaws are said to be gone), Space Wolfs extended K-9 teeth and heighted senses. Though in some books sons of different Primarch's joke both Primaris Dark Angels still show their tendency toward secrecy and paranoia. While the Primaris Ultramarines descendants seem as arrogant as ever. But true flaws like the Red Thrust, Black Rage and Curse of the Wulfen have eventually shown up (as of 10th edition) in a handful of Primaris marines. Suggesting these are innate to the gene-seed of Primarch's now and will still effect Astartes who gene-seed is derived from the Sangprimus Portum. Though we don't know what was the origin of gene-seed placed into the Sangprimus Portum after HH.

Look at the cultures the various legions emulate, of them only a handful actually emulate a culture we know of in relation to our planets history. The Blood Angels emulate a part of the training of the samurai, while the Space Wolves are viking and have a typical approach to how they handle day to day life.

I wnjoyed this video, but i think you ignored the most obvious flaw od the space wolves geneseed: the fact that they can age. It might be that we just never seen them in lore, but other geneseed heritages show little to no signs of aging but the vmwolves have them in spades, from the lengthening of their canines, to the greying of their hair, to the fact that their skin grows to vecome quite leathery and tough.

The Blood Angels handle their secret with dignity. The Wolves handle their secret with hypocrisy.

... Explain yourself, nothing said in the video supports this. Nothing in how they handle the Wulfen supports this. If anything the Wulfen are treated better than those who succumb to the Black Rage. Each Space Wolf handles their dealing with the curse personally and they don't put it on anyone else, while Blood Angel's bleed their servants. Where is the hypocricy of the wolves, where is the dignity of the angels with regards to their curse.
