Major points to the actor playing Lian Song. The character comes across as so carefree and playful that him behaving so seriously is startling enough by itself. Some would have gone for a more accusatory tone while methodically pointing out all of the ways in which Dong Hua has wronged Fengjiu while she's gone to extraordinary lengths for him. Instead, this delivery is calm and straightforward, and the very calmness of it contains its own tone of censure--the facts speak for themselves, and no raised voice or angry inflection could be as devastating.

He does not deserve the love of such a girl, yes, in Alanjo's dream he corrected some of his mistakes, but not all, he continues to deceive her and very soon will hurt her again. She shouldn't have forgiven him for stealing the apple right away, he didn't even realize he was being mean, he got away with it. I missed Fengju's anger towards Dong Hua in this movie, I really wanted to see him beg for her forgiveness and seek her love, but we didn't see any of that, it's not fair.

Exactly my thoughts too. As a God upholding integrity & justice his action & decision were unconceivable & absolutely immature despite being the longest living immortal. He is arrogant & selfish only thinking of himself. Young FJ on the other hand, although being potrayed as clueless at times is more upright & trustworthy compared to him. She is selfless & willing to let go of her own happiness for the sake of others. I'm glad she left him again & deprived him of Gungun for 200 years. That shud knocked some sense in him.

@@junainahtaiban7340 Yes, in this film she easily forgave him, as soon as she saw him in that cave in Alanjo's dream and remembered him, he pretended to be weak and said that he did not give her her prize, the magic apple because he was jealous. Apparently, when she heard his declaration of love and realized that he followed her into a dream to save her, plus he confessed that he was jealous. It was probably enough for her to forgive him. I liked the book more than this movie, they changed a lot here, in the book she refused him and wanted to live on without him and he had to continue pretending to be Shijo in order to win her love again, and then in the movie he revealed his identity and she recognized him and immediately forgave him and he gets away with everything.
