Emvee has been banned from Smogon, and will most likely never fully return to KZbin.
I know it's not Little Cup, but I'll be back to that next video.

Also, KZbin doesn't seem to be showing every comment, I'm not sure why this is, as some have just disappeared. Just know, I'm not doing this is any way, I have auto-comment moderation set to "none" so that it's unfiltered. If the videos editing seems bad, it's because I made it quickly, and music and sound effects don't go with a situation like this.

I used to think that the competitive pokemon community is one of the best communities out there, and while I still somewhat stand by that, seeing that two prominent members (Emvee and Neil) in the two biggest competitive communities have done/said terrible things feels terrible. My god this week was bad for the community

Certainly not a good week. In a way it could be viewed as a long-term good things, as removing a groomer and a transpobe is undeniably a good thing. Still, really sucks. I never knew much about Neil, but Emvee I was a big fan of, I watched most of his videos. Really sucks

Yeah I knew from the moments I played ladder as a kid and the incessant arguing between newgen and oldgen fans that despite how much I liked and found value in Pokemon and what it really is, the community was never the reason why I stayed. Not saying that should have anything to do with these kinds of people or that anyone’s naive or wrong for liking the pokemon community, but sadly I’m just not surprised at this point. Regardless, there’s still plenty of good eggs in the batch!

While bringing up a decade old incident definitely seems like a hit, grooming minors has never been a normal occurrence. 16 is the age of consent in my country, and I'm 22 and the idea of trying to sexually engage with someone that young is just kinda gross to me. Also, even if dropping this accusation now is designed to hurt emvee, it doesn't change that he still groomed someone. Action still needed to be taken if the info was correct, and from all accounts it seemed to be true.

@@Jelipuff i mean it really has, if you talk to people aged 40-70 what age they and their partners were when they started dating there’s a decent chunk where the age gap looks like what emvee did. definitely think he deserves the removal from the community that he got, but it’s a weird situation all around and i felt like somebody had to have a differing perspective

@@mojommmm even if it's true that it was common back then (which isn't really, the average age gap was like 4-5 years, large age gaps were still an outlier) that doesn't change that he's groomed someone and should be banned. I respect the whole innocent until proven guilty thing but being the devil's advocate really isn't necessary in a cut and dry case, and by all accounts thats what this is. Even emvee basically conceded defeat.

Ehh, glad to know a bit more of what’s going on. My thoughts: First, I don’t know enough. “Smogon banned” is not enough evidence. Enough evidence is enough evidence. Second, people have different sides to them. I don’t watch people because I want to support them. I watch because I like their content. Being KZbin famous was never about being rewarded for being a good person, and frankly such a society sounds horrendous. I never watched Emvee because he was a role model. I watched him to put the video on x2 speed and listen to some rapid fire reasoning w/ a few predictions that could either pay off big or screw him over. So, I’ll keep watching. I’ll reevaluate if things start looking very bad for him, but I hope he still does videos. He’s done plenty I’ve liked in the past decade and that’s not changing. Understandable if his friends want to reconsider things, or if people no longer feel comfortable watching. Though people trying to chase him off, especially if they’re basing their judgement on Smogon, should consider leaving the issue to legal authorities.

Eventually people will learn that most video game streamers, youtubers, and influencers are often times losers in real life with no kind of social awareness that were pretty low on the social ladder to begin with. They get more fame and popularity and have no clue how to act. Idk if bro is guilty, but honestly wouldn't doubt it given the history of people in this space. Stunted social growth leads to these kind of bad decisions. While an age gap of 6 years isn't that big or abnormal, a normal 22 year old that has experience with women most likely won't go for a 16 year old knowingly...

Also, normal people mainly hang around other people similar in age until they're past early and mid 20s. If you're in your 20s, you shouldn't normally have a chance to be around 16 year olds, even more so in a romantic setting.

I can't speak for everyone, but I think that a lot of online youtubers and such are often rather odd people, but there's also a lot of regular people. You mainly hear about the weird ones, but there's still mostly regular people. I mean I'd describe myself as a pretty typical person, and I can't imagine I'm the only one (although I don't make any actual money, and I'm certainly not a big or relevant youtuber whatsoever) . You just don't see anyone making videos or talking about how "wow Pokeaim is such a normal guy" because it's the expectation for society. Definitely some creeps though, you gotta watch out for sure.

I’m not coming to any conclusions unless receipts are released. Accusations can be false, and in my eyes, they are so until proven otherwise. Also smogon is not an authority on anything but competitive Pokémon.

Exactly. Smogon isn't a court of law, which is important to consider. However, in my eyes, and you're entitled to feel otherwise, this isn't a case where making things publicly available would help anyone, as it's a personal issue with real people involved. As such, I doubt we'll ever find out much more than this. All I'm doing is putting the facts in one place, and voicing my opinion on it.

This grooming accusation depends on the country’s law. If it happened in the States, (I believe that Emvee is from the USA) then it depends on which state. Several states have their age of consent at 16 like Kansas. Only 10 states have it at 18. For situations like this, it’s best to stay neutral and don’t do anything. If innocent then he will get unnecessary crap for nothing and if proven guilty then don’t do anything illegal like doxing.
