This is by far my favorite fishing game out there and i refuse to stop playing it. But i do think there are a couple of things they could have done differently to garner a bigger audience. For example a Norway Map and a Spain Map and a Prehistoric Africa Map is honestly not it, they could have easily done a modern day Africa map or a South America map and it would have attracted so many more people and then do the other maps later on, IRL fisherman know those are like the sought after spots to go fishing with crazy beautiful and illusive fish u dont see anywhere else. i love this game but they definitely dropped the ball catering to real fishing enthusiasts.

Unfortunately I sort of saw this comming.. As uneasy about it I was, I felt this game didnt really have a future because it simply came out into a massive pool of other fishing open-world games that already made a name for themselves in the market and simply this game didnt really in my opinion bring anything that special that would make it popular enough to justify its developement but I still very much love this game and enjoy it. Its a bummer it wont get any new content but hey, as long as I can still play it, Im glad because its a relaxing way to just let go and simply catch fish in beautiful environments. Also thank you for the guides and diamond hotspots, helped me get a lot!

@@yeahman9813 Dont be so hostile. Yes, I may have overstepped when saying "large pool of other open-world fishing games" but how else was I supposed to interpret it? To me it seems like the only logical reason for it to end. Regardless, Im not saying Angler COTW is bad, it is NOT. It just didnt until this point bring anything special enough to make enough of a playerbase to justify updating it though it is a real shame, I could have imagined all the different maps and fish species that could have been added but well.. who knows, perhaps they will come back to it one day.

@@patrikcacky2920 don't worry, you were pretty close to the truth...most fishing games allow you to roam and fish anywhere on a map, just the maps are often smaller than open world ones...the main point though is the open world just isn't a big selling point to anglers, lots of land isn't important and most don't fish irl in open world scenarios. We just care about the actual water and fishing.

me too. Only been playing for like 2-3 months...all maps unlocked, all DLC, all legendaries every week....3 of 5 maps at 1000 RP....nearing about 50 percent of all species diamond. Most addicted I've been to a game in years....still a lot to do, I just hope they'll step in when the legendaries break etc..

As some people have said this game had so much potential I felt like they took the journey to making this game and realize some of the implications and problems that came with it and decided it wasn't worth it anymore maybe fish and game is not the strongest suit a decent game for what it's worth potential enough that they could have kept progressing the game improving but I think eventually this game will die and whether away with time another games like professional fisherman ultimate fishing in Russ fishing fishing simulator games will take its place I will still play the game it's still worth playing but not as much snowing now they'll never going to update the game rip call the wild the screaming angler

I just got this game for Christmas too. They had so much potential, Amazon, South East Asia, Australia, we never even got saltwater fishing, closest we got was Norway. All i wanted was trophy lodges.

Yeah, this one kinda hurt to hear ab. I played the angler long before I touched the hunter, and watching it die out as the newer game of the two just doesn’t seem right. Only thing I wish we could’ve gotten before something like this, would be a lodge/aquarium to see our best catches. Sucks to know we’ll never see anything new out of this legendary game. wishful thinking as a u-turn would be even more damaging to EW/Avalance reputation, besides there's no reason for it to become more popular or profittable after 2 1/2 years of dwindling player numbers. The player numbers have dropped significantly since the announcement and the amount streaming and viewing has also plumetted.

This is really sad. Call of the Wild: The Angler had so much potential to become the greatest fishing game ever, right alongside Fishing Planet. Hopefully, theHunter: Call of the Wild and theHunter: Classic will continue to live on and receive regular updates.

It's a shame really. I was always a little frustrated with the mechanics of the fishing experience. It always felt so mechanical always looking at the bottom right of the screen to see what was happening with the fish and your line instead of feeling the line (if your using controller) and looking at what the fish is actually doing like in RDR2. That to me felt so much more engaging and organic just like in real life. You compare this game to the hunter call of the wild and you do not have a counter in the bottom right to show you your sway of the rifle and rifle alignment based on your fatigue to shoot. I feel like this stupid mechanic is why they failed it just doesnt feel rewarding to catch a fish let alone the progress is very uninspiring.

What honestly pisses me off about it is they are going to add fishing into the hunter to backfill the maps... Also add the angler reserves to the hunter. They killed the angler just for the hunter and it isnt right

I'm so disappointed in this. they are missing out with a huge mistake I believe. I would continue to purchase new add on maps as soon as they could roll them out. if they just got the team to release a new map every three to four months, I think this would be a money-making machine because I know I would buy and continue to play them. they could probably do it with minimal change to the overall game. a new rod and reel now and again would be great with no leveling cap and just new fresh reserves this could go on making them money and the players happy for a long time. like this comment and show them that you agree and let's see if we can get the right people's attention, it's worth a shot if you truly love this game as I do.

From what I understand it was originally going to be that way but the community wanted them to be separate games, and they still do. I know a lot of people who said they wouldnr play the hunter if it way both fishing/hunting too much going on. They just pulled the plug too early in my opinion it's really only been out for a few years I would have bought 10 more dlc if it meant it wouldn't come to this
