The Whitman plaza was the former site of 2 food manufacturers, Whitman chocolates and Mrs Paul's. My mom's friend worked at Mrs. Paul's until they closed it in the 90s when the whole area was sold for development.

The turkey berry was Gearo's. They had Catered events upstairs and a dining room on the first floor. Then there was rooms downstairs for events also. My family had several memories in there lol. They had another location in the lower NE on Bustleton Ave I believe. Moved outta Philly almost 8 years ago and I hate to say it's the best thing I ever did for my physical and mental health!!!! I would self cancel if I ever had to move back there! Thanks for the stroll (scoot) down memory lane!! Lived in the NE all my life. Used to go to Tower to buy concert tickets.

I just sold my Mom's Condo there at Welch & The Blyd. Excelsior Condominiums behind that Sunoco. I also lived at Grant & the Bully for awhile.... Good video Cap!! Great blast from the past for me!! ****YEAHHHHHH****

that bus stop with all the carts is where a drunk driver killed my friend in the middle of a summer night back around 1987. my buddy had kicked his habit for a year and was going to nursing school during the day and was working a booth at a nearby gas station at night. we'll this drunk driver was doing close to 100 mph when he drove straight through the bus stop - killing my friend and he didn't stop until he was nearly all the way down the the next street. cops came about 3 am banging on my door because he was my roommate until just a week before. I had to go tell his father because the philly PD didn't want to. lost all respect for cops and drunk drivers with the same sunrise.

I'm old enough to remember the Jerry Lewis telethon. I watched on it TV when I was younger. The Turkey Berry on Welsh used to be Gearo's Grille. I went to Baldi back in the mid 80s for 6th and 7th grades. Those shopping carts at that bus stop are also from the people that sell bottled water. They load the carts up with bottled water from Walmart and push them out to the Boulevard and stand in the middle of the Boulevard selling them to cars driving by.

But I hate this city I had to move here 5yrs ago from North Central NJ after my mom died and I got evicted from my childhood home and had to leave all my possessions behind and moved to Tacony to take care of my bedridden disabled sister. I know this may sound petty to Some of you. Some assholes took all my magnets off my car in our driveway some of them had very special Meaning to me like the fire department ones and the cat ones Also Someone came up up driveway and took my Granny push groceries cart I use to go shopping I'm also disabled andy car isn't working and I can't afford to get it fixed so I have that walk the the stores what right does These scumbags have the go onto somebody's Property and steal there Stuff. The cops don't do a Damm thing a matter of fact they don't even come when you call them. I. Respect the police but why bother Have a police department when they Don't care. In jersey if you get caught stealing You go to jail not hear. I was at Wawa and there was a cop in the store a kid walked out to Frankford and the cop went out to get him. And let him leave when He gave back the stuff He stoled. This shoplifting has to stop. But not until the cops do there job.
