An f150 with a lined cap is what I drive as an adventure vehicle. The back is completely insulated and the cap has windoors. It works a very comfortable daily driver camping vehicle and my work truck. With an extra cab and an 8 ft box it has tons of room for sleeping and all the gear😀 I totally recommend this setup for any cyclist who likes camp and or travel with bikes.

Good choice with the Explorer. I work at a Ford dealership and I currently have a 2023 Explorer on order now. I'm replacing my 2010 Eddie Bauer Explorer that has over 220,000 miles on it and still runs great. That vehicle has really improved since it's launch in 1992. Your vehicle has a 2.3L Ecoboost turbocharged engine with a 10 speed transmission. Decent power and fuel mileage for a 4 cylinder engine. i owned 3 decades long string of econolines and only found out with the last one that secret of lane-keeping ability on rough road and over-70mph stability is to always have new, quality shocks, replaced on time. Im now happy owner of a genteel Transit 150 passenger window van converted for utility/adventure but applaud your choice of Ford Explorer - sweet ride!!!!

Well done on the upgrades. If you seem to get to much wind noise from the roof tent you can consider adding a short wind deflector along the top of the window to smoothly push the air flow up and over the tent vice having it ram between the tent and top of the vehicle. Enjoy the new ride!

It took me a long time to realize it but I also have grown to hate vans. Now I have a jeep Cherokee Trailhawk 4 x 4 with an awesome slide out kitchen unit and the luxury and comfort is just amazing. My tent still goes on the ground but it is one of those types that you literally just shake the damn thing and it pops into place. I also have an Eco Flo delta battery set up and that thing is amazing, no more ice coolers, I have a regular fridge and that is also a major upgrade. I appreciate how hard you guys work so you deserve some luxury!

Back when I road raced motorcycles I always had sketchy vehicles that you didn't know if they were gonna get you to a race let alone get you home. Spent many a night broke down and sleeping on the side of the interstate. That's a great investment in the new vehicle. It will truly relieve the stress and worry from you and allow you to concentrate on your racing. 👍

6:18 I drive a 2006 Subaru Outback that had 189,000 miles on it when I bought it. Heated seats are about the only luxury that car has, but oh what a luxury they are, especially up here in Wisconsin(no heated steering wheel for me, though). You two absolutely deserve it! Congratulations, by the way, on living a life with chapters! I'm way more sad than I should be to say goodbye to a van I've never driven, but of course I'm excited to follow along with all the adventures that are sure to come!

I remember decades ago when I was still into mountain biking and was reading all the magazines, 'Bike' (do they even still exist), ran an article where they wanted readers to submit photos of their vehicles that took their bikes to the trails, but the catch was the bikes had to cost more than the vehicles. Of course this was the very early 90s and it was before we had carbon fiber everything. Lots of steel and aluminum bikes, and almost NOTHING that was full suspension. Getting 1 1/2" of travel from your elastomer Manitou 3 was the shizz back then! I think these days we've gotten away from the "bikes must be worth more than what you carry them on," and most of us have grown up to realize that maybe it's better to pay a bit more and having something reliable and fuel efficient rather than a cheap gas guzzler. Of course the best thing about those beaters we drove? Already paid for. Congrats on the new wheels and adapting it to your new plans on what races you'll attend. Think how refreshed you'll feel when you roll up to a race NOT having to have dealt with a breakdown, or being partially deafened. Less vehicle related stress probably helps win races too!

Kuat racks are worth every penny. I have the NV 2.0, which is less fancy, but it’s built like the proverbial brick shithouse, which is ideal for when you might want to do a little off-roading to get to the trailhead.

If you find that the rooftop tent isn't the best solution, check out Gazelle tents. They set up and take down in just a few minutes (like single digit minutes) are huge (can stand inside easily) and more importantly, you can leave it set up while you drive your vehicle!

May want to look into beefing up the rear suspension or switching to an air bag system that keeps the car level. It already looks like it’s sagging which will shorten the shock’s lifespan and make your headlights possibly point upward if they’re not self-leveling.

I had a similar transition -(not a van) but I went from a 30 year old "classic" to a new car. The biggest adjustment was that things just worked. When I look through the rear view mirror, I now don't see the headliner dangling. The side mirrors are clear and you can see cars on either side of you! There's no random bang upon starting the car. Just so many wins. But don't worry, our pups are actively working on giving the new car 'character.'

Didn't test it without so can't say. But fully loaded on a trip to El Paso doing 75-80 most of the way we averaged 19 round trip.

Can I say "nice rack"? 😲Seriously, nice rack! The fact that it swings out and has lights prewired is awesome. The new vehicle is great too. I downsized to a Jeep Cherokee, with a 1UP USA rack for 2+2. Holds 2 in base form and can add 2. But it doesn't swing out or have gas struts!

The lights on our piston pro worked inconsistently at first. We spoke to Kuat who told us this was a known issue. to fix this issue your need to remove a portion of the tray and clean the contacts. u can contact them and they’ll walk you through it. Good luck.

I love the new ride. Funny thing, my 2005 F-150 has speed adaptive volume control, but it is an XLT. 😊 You guys said nothing about the back up cameras. Keep being more awesome!
