L’oeuvre de Mutu prend pour sujet principal le corps de la femme noire, objet de désir, de violence et lieu de projection des archétypes raciaux. The end of carrying all est une fable à la résonance universelle, une version contemporaine du mythe de Sisyphe. Elle montre une femme noire, seule dans un paysage apocalyptique qui résonne des rumeurs de la civilisation contemporaine. Munie des outils nécessaires à sa survie, elle se voit peu à peu ensevelie sous une masse d’objet. Lestée par une fardeau de plus en plus lourd, elle chute et se transforme en une créature primitive qui finit par disparaître.

Mutu’s work takes as its main subject the body of the black woman, object of the desire, violence and place for the projection of racial archetypes. The End of carrying All is a tale with universal resonance, a contemporary version of the myth of Sisyphus. It shows a black woman, alone in an apocalyptic landscape that resonates with rumours of contemporary civilisation. Equipped with the tools necessary for her survival, she finds herself little by little buried under a mass of objects. Weighed down a burden that gets heavier and heavier, she falls and turns into a primitive creature that ends up disappearing.

Saw this as an Exhibit in venice in 2015 arts and music festival. To really appreciate it, it needs to be seen on huge projectors surrounding a room with three angled walls as shown above. Amazing.I couldn't leave the room.

I saw this video art today at New Museum in Soho New York city. It was magnificent art work and really catches my eyes for the whole 9 minutes. I love it.

I saw it at the Houston Museum of Art in 2016. It was on two HUGE screens facing each other with a large open space between as you entered the museum. Powerful. Hard not to get the message.
